Very scary. I like it overall.
The "damaged" on his forehead is cringe inducing, but the rest of the ink is neat. I love the idea that Batman has beat his ass so many times that he needs a grill lol. But I gotta agree with Slade, I really miss the permanent smile. |

Yeah the permanent smile is a classic Joker trait. It just doesn't feel like Joker at all.

OMG, I can just imagine the bad one-liners the writers are gonna come up with in regards to Joker's features, especially his teeth!

I love this. It's not MY Joker (mine was and always will be Heath Ledger) but this looks like a kick-ass take on him nonetheless. We've had Classic Joker (Burton), Realistic Joker (Nolan), and now Punk Joker (Snyder). Loving the dentalwork, the tattoos are a bit much, but if he's been in Arkham long enough, what else is he going to do?
Anyone else notice how the font of the "HA"s matches The Dark Knight? Love it.

So, the new Joker is basically Ninja from Die Antwoord? Looks awful. If that's what they did to Joker does that worry anyone else in regard to what they're going to do with Harley Quinn in her first live action movie appearance?
I'm not a big Batman fan but I do like the character's of Joker and Harley so I have to say that this is kind of a drag. |

Well who says he was always put in Arkham? There was a point in Batman history where Arkham was closed or didn't exist yet and these nuts were just put in blackgate.

The only thing that's a bit too on the noise for me are the tattoos of the laughter. Everything else I kind of dig.
And I was one of the many unconvinced by the first view images of Leger's Joker.

*shrugs* It's not like there's not a precedent for The Joker doing the whacky when it comes to his appearance; when he appeared in the last few issues of Batman RIP, he was in suspenders and stovepipe pants and had his tongue split in half. In The Batman Animated Series he had no shoes, huge front teeth and dredlocks. In Death of the Family, he was in a mechanic's jumpsuit and was wearing his own face as a mask.
The great thing about The Joker is that there are a lot of different ways that he can be interpreted and played - I say wait til we see him in action; you could end up being totally blown away. Remember, everyone freaked out and complained when Heath Ledger was first cast as The Joker - now they love him.

I actually didn't freak out when Ledger was cast and even though I don't like the tatts and all that, I can forgive it all if he would just have the smile...
God damnit, I'm starting to sound like Cybercubed.

Isn't this supposed to be a younger Joker too, like in his twenties or something?

Joker looks terrible, however I pretty much thought the same thing (as did the internet as a whole) when the first image of Nolan's Joker came out and while not my definitive Joker that turned out to be a great performance.

So, apparently. The tattoos won't be in the film.
They were just added for the Joker's anniversary. |

Dunno, the 'Play it Loud' one made me laugh pretty hard.
I'll reserve judgement until I see the whole thing in context, but I like that they did something a little weird. *edit* Unless they didn't *edit* I like his hair too, from what I can see.

It really is too soon to tell. It's just a lot different from what most people were probably expecting. It's clear that they want to distance themselves as far as possible from the last series, which to a large number of people is blasphemous, because for a while yet, you're still going to have a majority of people swearing "Nolan, Bale and Ledger's stuff is never going to be topped." Just like some people still swear that Burton's stuff was better, even though... y'know... it wasn't.
It'll probably be fine. I don't get the obsession with him "needing" to have the permanently frozen grin, though; he actually doesn't always have it in the comics, it's entirely dependent on the artist. Sometimes he's "stuck" that way, sometimes it's a scar, and sometimes he just does it because he feels like it. Even in the cartoon version everyone's so obsessed with, he didn't have a permanent smile. It's whatever. The only thing with me is that the tats are a bit much, but even if that part is real they'd probably only be visible in one scene anyway. I'unno, it's alright. Could be better could be worse. I'll admit I'm a little biased towards Ledger's take, but eh, gotta move on sometime. |

I think the tattoos being for the anniversary are still a fan theory at this stage, aren't they?
