Why are all the blogs against this movie about it? I keep coming across hit piece after hit piece trying to kill this movie from getting hype and the internet sheep are following just as planned.

I only plan on watching 3 movies this year and this is one of them.

I am not really sure, but I saw some "arguments" that the book is bad and doesn't represent 80-s culture properly, because, it ignores some stuff, which was made by Black people or something. And apparently it glorifies "white male nerds" or some nonsense.

As usual, those people offended about nothing and make an elephant out of the mouse.
Twice as hilarious since those are mostly tumblrinas-white nerds that are offended about movie about and for white nerds.

Oh, well, can't account for the lack of brain. I hope this movie will get a good box-office just to piss off those idiots.

I haven't read any political polarizing articles about Ready Player One but I do think there's something going behind the scenes because the narrative for this movie is that it sucks. I mean for me I don't care if the movie is any good or not, I want to see it because I think it appeals to me.

But this movie IS what all these FAKE geek culture blogs splout about all day with click bait titles and making geeky things "cool" and nostalgia "cool". I mean I've seen those blogs shill horrible content for the sake of clicks and succeeding at making stupid things cool for internet people. So it's odd that this movie which is built for THEIR audience is getting hammered.

I don't even care for the references, I just want a Spielberg movie set in a VR world, that's what's appealing to me. Is it because mainstream geek blogs don't like Virtual Reality? I'm genuinely curious what the narrative is.

Huh.
Spoiler:
I was curious what they were going to do about Aech.
I guess that.

Iiiinteresting.
I'm curious how long it'll take people who haven't read the book to be upset about their reveal.

Damn, I wonder why? I thought Steven was loudly all about 80s and 90s stuff in all the interviews about "the cameos." Those are, like, the opposite of that... in the worst possible ways.

Maybe they already had the CG assets so it was just cheaper to use those for their 2 second cameo.

I'm still excited about this movie, I'll wait until it's on a 4Dx cinema for full effect, this is one of those movies that will benefit from those gimmicks.

Probably dead on with that.

So basically, somebody asks,
Spoiler:
"Are the TMNT in 'Ready Player One'?" The answer is no. No, they're not.

Tracer makes an appearance in one of the trailers so its not like its 100 percent about the 80s and 90s

Well, that makes sense. If the whole driving device of the movie is a virtual reality video game, there might be nods to appeal to kids into newer video games. I'm pretty sure I even saw a Chocobo from Final Fantasy in an earlier trailer, though those games stretch back to the 90s.

Not totally apples to apples with films, though. At least insomuch as what Steven has been saying he's aiming to do and from what eras.

Tracer and Bayturtles made an appearance? I might have to check this one. Even Lara Croft is in it.

And the rottentomatoes reviews are fine too, so that’s nice.
