Oh definitely - my dissatisfaction with the original movie treatment is no reflection on Tim Curry. Tim Curry's great; he can do no wrong in my eyes. Tim Curry can marry my sister.

I have a friend in Memphis and does she ever have the hots for that guy? lol Yeah I feel the same, PD. The movie wasn't all that great but Curry is what always brings me back. He does a pretty great Darth Sidious too in the final season of Clone Wars. Dude makes one heck of a Sith.

My favorite role of his will always be the one from Legend. LOVED that movie. Although Dr. Frank N. Furter will always be a close second, LOL! It is probably the other stand-out role I've liked him in, and maybe the butler in Clue, but that's just an all-around fun movie anyway!

How about Paul Gimatti or Kevin Spacey as Pennywise?

I vote for Kevin Spacey in the role. It would be interesting to see what he could do as Pennywise.
Do we have shooting start date yet?

Did you know he did Dr Sevarius' voice in Gargoyles? Quote:
One thing that does disturb me though is the wording in this article: "While there is no word on the cast of this latest adaptation of Stephen’s work, the filmmakers have expressed a desire to use a younger, more socially relevant compliment of actors." Source: http://www.inquisitr.com/1793451/new...ll-be-vicious/ I could be misinterpreting that comment but I hope it doesn't mean that they're going to be "updating" this so that it's in modern times - it's very important that the characters' childhood takes place in the 50s. Shifting it would drastically alter the tone for the worse, I feel. That being said, Stephen King has apparently seen the script and is happy with it, so I guess that's a good sign?

No matter how creepy the new one is, the radio theater program The Thrilling Adventure Hour has ruined It for me by basing a character of theirs off of Pennywise.
Nightmares the Clown...I just...I'll be thinking about how he doesn't sound like Doc Venture, and cackling like Sadie Doyle the whole time.

Then I thought about it, remembered the kid's facial expressions and creepiness, and I think it'll work.

I picked up the novel version yesterday. 1,090 pages is a bit much, but plenty of time before this comes out. What differences were there in the 1990 adaptation than in the 1986 novel?
Also, why did Mike go back in the sewers for the flashlight instead of just get another one? That was dumb. It bothered me when I watched the mini-series. Just read that the remake is on hold because the director is not happy with New Line's budget constraints. http://www.thewrap.com/cary-fukunaga...ine-exclusive/

Yeah, the budget being cut really isn't encouraging news, IMO. Who knows if this project is doomed to just linger in development hell...
As far as differences between the book and movie, there are quite a few. Some of the main ones off the top of my head are: - lots of scenes in the book didn't make it into the movie, or things that did make it in were changed (for example, some of the things that were changed/didn't make the cut at all include the gay-bashing scene at the start of the book, the Chud ritual, a lot of the world-building/disasters/murders where It had been in Derry in the past, the clubhouse, Beverley's dad going erm... slightly gonzo at the end, Hockstetter, Mike battling the giant bird...) - It primarily appears in the movie in the clown form, whereas in the book, It takes on a wide variety of forms - the entire third act where they battle It is markedly different (e.g. the giant turtle is no longer part of it and they remove the sex scene which tbh, I found fairly squicky in the book)

Beverley's dad is long dead isn't he? Atleast he was in part 2 of the TV movie. What world disasters that reach world-wide are there? I thought the creature did not reach beyond Derry.

Ah, I mean world-building in the sense of the history of Derry as a town. Basically, thanks to It, there's a looootta nasty stuff that's happened in the town, going right back through its history.
There's probs a fair bit of stuff you haven't seen yet if you're only three chapters in so I wouldn't want to spoil it for you. The book jumps between the childhood of The Losers Group and their current day lives, so you get to see things involving their parents when they were growing up.

What is this about a giant turtle?
I am 16o pages in. Just finished the 1st interlude. Stephen King tends to ramble with unneccessary details which is what accounts for the lengthy page count. Bill is Georgie's brother in the book opposed to Rittler's Ben in the movie. Looks like the director replacement will happen oposed to haulting the project. http://m.ign.com/articles/2015/05/28...ay-float-again

So it looks like this remake will never get made now. Good.

I am 680ish pages into the book. There are definitely some differences that could make it work when remade. The characters in the film are not located where they are in the book. Ben for example is a loner outside of Lincoln Nebraska that regularly visits a diner while Ben in the film serial is a lush living in New York City where Richie is in the book. Richie being in Beverly Hills where Bill and his wife are in the book. There are a few others but that is the one that sticks out the most.
It was hard to tell form the movie serial but Beverly is married to Tom Rogan and he has much more than two consecutive scenes in the novel as one of the two minor villains. The ritual of Chud is explained in the novel but I do not think I understand the Indian legend behind it as to how It/Pennywise can sense their fears and how a silver dollar/silver in general can beat the creature. Any clarification is welcome.

Just shy of page 900. The finish in 1958 with It as a werewolf was much better than the film. It goes to show you what the potential of a film budget can do so It can take on more forms.
Bill and Bev have a one night stand in the book? It just did not feel right and Bill even said it should be Ben. It makes Bev a bit slutty in the novel version. Also it cheapens Audrea's damael role and feel real bad for Ben. I thought it was sweet how he ended up with Beverly at the end,but if he knew about this... Not sure how it works, but how does speeding on a bike break a canatonic state even in the King multiverse? Just seems like a cheap resolution. It is said to be a female. One would think due to the forms the creature takes It is male. A twist eslecially with 100ish eggs It produced. How can the creature reproduce though?

A new director has been named for the two part remake. Don't know anything about him, but a little web search may surface his credits.

Yes I did, and he was so PERFECT! Quote:
The bike thing was a bit of a stretch, but I can see how that moment of fear might break through to her. He was forcing her to respond to an immediate stimulus (threat) to "wake her up" from the nightmare she was stuck in. As for It being female, that was the point. The fact that it was BREEDING (as in, there would have to be others for this to happen) was what was so ultimately horrifying. If they hadn't killed It AND the eggs, the evil would have eventually spread.
