Let's talk about the wackiest and dumbest Superheroes and villains

Well since Superman came out in the 1930's every comic book artist and their mother-in-law started to bring up characters with super powers and seeing how big the franchise has become, not without considerable success.

But let's start about super heroes and ditto Villains which fail to be "Super"

I'll start off with the guy who puts everything that a super hero stands for to shame Suppaman from the manga and anime series "Dr. Slump"

Suppaman ("Sourman" Coming from the Japanese word "Suppai" which means "Sour" and also is the sign on his chest) was meant to be the total polar opposite of Superman. Even down to the name of his alter ego Kent Clarke (Clarke Kent but with the order of first and last names reversed.)

Suppaman is a short fat character who's only "Super" power is his ego, he spends more time portraying himself to be a champion of the people than to actually being one. He is far too cowardly to actually fight crime and is often seen bribing the said criminal so he doesn't have to fight them.
If there is one thing that Suppaman hates more than anything it's when he gets his chance to show himself to be a true champion of justice spoiled, by arriving too late for example and the situation having been solved by then. If there's a fire that broke out and he arrives too late to lend any help he'll gladly blow up the fire engine to make the fire department pay for not having given him his chance to act the hero. And woe on you if you tell him off...

Then we have Bananaman

Bananaman, the "Man of peel"

Now other than Suppaman, Bananaman DOES have superpowers, he can fly is super humanly strong and has his morals in the right order, so what's the problem?

Well Bananaman doesn't exactly put in ANY effort to keep his secret identity secret, everybody in town knows that scrawny Eric is Bananaman and villains actually go out of their way to keep him away from bananas so he can't transform. In one issue of his comic book series Eric was forced to drink banana milk because he couldn't find a banana. It resulted in him being turned into a completely liquid version of Bananaman, which in another panel was seen being mopped up by a janitor.

AND if it wasn't for the crafty raven who always helps him out, Bananaman would have lost every single fight he's been in because it's one thing to have super powers but when they're coupled to an incompetent idiot...

Speaking of which, let's look at it from the other side, becoming a villain doesn't just start with just having evil intentions, you'll have to talk the talk as well as walk the walk and some villains aren't really all that good at either.

Let's name those instances where Villains aren't really all that suited to be Villains.

From the short lived Marvel Damage control series. After being fired from "Damage Control Inc" Gene Strausser and another former employer who's also quite angry with them, decide to don powered suits and fight She-Hulk.

But during their fight, they cannot seem to decide on Villain names and while actually fighting She-Hulk they throw some ridiculous suggestions around. Switching from Simon & Garfunkel, Hammer & Sickle, Cloak & Dagger or New & Improved

That coming up with a suitable Villain name which will strike fear into the hearts of adversaries isn't really all that easy was also shown by Baxter Stockman in the 2012 series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. After a TV report showed him on a rampage in a battle suit created with tech developed by Donatello and with his face in full view and everybody learning his name, Stockman decides that he should abandon his name and go for something a lot less nerdy than he is.

Baxter: I am NOT Baxter Stockman, I am '"THE BAX-MAN!" ...no. I am "THE SUITENATOR!" Aw man that's Terrible! ... "CAPTAIN PUNCH-YOU-HARD" man why is this so difficult?

Now as these two examples show, a Villain name is just the start, they simply cannot do without gadgets and plans and schemes and if we're going to mention inept villains and their said gadgets, plans and schemes we MUST include Team Rocket. who's main flaw is that they always fail to really scrutinize all the details before going ahead with a scheme.

Key example of that: The most successful raid they ever pulled off was when they (and several dozens of Team Rocket soldiers) had set up a Pokémon collectors' fair on board a cruise ship, with the intention of stealing the said Pokémon when the ship was at the open ocean. All went according to plan until they figured out a little too late that there always was a possibility that those Pokémon collectors would start to use their Pokémon to fight against Team Rocket...

I have a soft spot for The Amazing Slapstick, having owned his debut mini-series as a child, but he's pretty objectively terrible.

It's hard to beat 'The Penny Plunderer' from the Golden Age of Batman comics.

Deadpool has my vote. TFS abridged Alucard from Hellsing is a close second.

Wow! How can we have a thread like this and NOT include such "gems" (and I use the term VERY loosely) as The Spot, Paste Pot Pete(aka Trapster), or Paper Doll? Rubber Band Man, Big Bertha, and Beak might fit the bill, too.

I can't believe I left Captain Man and Kid Danger out.

To call them "incompetent" would have been a compliment, they are THAT hopeless.

Freakazoid and Tick don't count since they're basically parodies No superheroes more ridiculous than Ultraforce, ridiculously awesome. The epitome of the 90s superheroes taking all the bad elements to an Xtreeeme and yet somehow it's kinda cool in its own way.
