gamecube revisited

I remember enjoying the first game, but not caring much for the other two.
I also remember the first game being REALLY hard...and also tough to get used too, as this was still one of my first forays into 3D gaming. I remember not liking the radar function...and thinking the bosses where WAY too hard. and didn't have too many predictable patterns.

15 years or so later?

it's remarkable how good the first game holds up.

the combat is smooth. the programing and camera work is good. the sprites are good, if a bit lo poly. the combat is fun, so you don't miss the one kill two button attack. the moves look like real ninja moves.

The bosses got remarkably easier this time around, after not having played it in 15 years. especially the mystic ninjas, which I remember haunted my dreams the first time around.

the only thing that is really annoying about this game is the layout. the selection of levels and how it continues after you die makes constant replay a chore. and all the repeated voice work of the characters gets annoying to listen too after the first minute with a phrase being repeated every single hit. but it's nice to have the cast in there, minus Hun.

It'll be interesting to see how the other two games hold up, but i'm having fun revisiting this one. good thing i still have all the original discs.

This is cool, better if you could post pictures but yeah make a progress log of the interesting thing of those 2k3 Konami games, there were 3 right? If you can get to the spin offs like Mutant Melee even better.

Gamecube was great, I wish I bought more games for it than I did, I never made the most of it.

See, I actually strongly dislike the first game, which was repetitive and dull. I enjoyed the second game, in which you could unlock additional playable characters, significantly more. I don't remember the third one as much, but recall that even in s ingle player the other 3 turtles were controlled by AI and fought alongside you.

I never finished the console version of TMNT2:Battle Nexus, but I got a surprising amount of enjoyment out of TMNT3: Mutant Nightmare for the PS2.

I was afraid I wouldn't like the level-up system of that game because it might make the gameplay too convoluted and overuse that "Mystic Turtle" designs or whatever they were called. But I did come to find the game quite enjoyable over time (got frustrating to try and play it for long single sittings, but worked nicely in small installments over a month or so). I liked even being able to use some alternate characters like April and Casey as Turtle substitutes during some of the shooting missions.

The first level could be offputting to many due to its frustrations as an "escort mission" trying to keep April from getting blown up. My advice is to avoid getting April stuck between enemies. I'd keep one turtle hanging back on the outskirts of the fighting and direct the other 3 to rush into the fray and clear out a pathway. Don't bother exploring the whole compound because April WILL find her way into trouble and walk into a punch or explosion. Just locate the exit and move towards it cautiously (Triceratons tend to swarm out of the walls when you're not expecting it!)

since there does not seem to be any long plays of these games, currently trying to record a lag free version. which is tough because capturewiz can be memory intensive and i have no hdmi option for older games.

I think the first game was pretty good and I enjoy it a hell of a lot more than the awful sequel which I just found unplayable. Why fix what isn't broken? Having your characters jumping all the time was just wrong because they weren't originally designed to do that. Does anyone know if Mutant Nightmare was an improvement over the second game and closer to the first?
