Nice to see someone else shares my sentiments about "Watchmen".

Bay isn't the problem with this movie. Thus far the only issue is a bad production company. Bay is actually good for this movie believe it or not. From a sales perspective having his name hanging over the title will help sell tickets. Reserve the complete "oh noes" for when the director is announced. That's what I'm more concerned about. Also the other writers.

It's more a matter of having some level of hope before Michael bay got involved. I was hoping for a watchable movie.
Now I'm expecting a splinter that humps april's leg.

No. Because he only puts the money in.
And yet those films also sucked.

*washes out skin* Ugh...so much defilement of classic horror.

My first reaction was to moan about Michael Bay. Still this is nothing but good news really. A TMNT film that follows the 1990 film series, has big names attached, and might actually come out? Sounds good to me. Bay as producer really doesn't mean too much when you consider Spielberg was producer to Transformers. Aside from Bumblebee being ET part deux, Transformers was mostly Bay's doing. Besides this early in the process names are liable to get added and dropped at any moment.

PS What are they going to do with the fans who tried out as foot soldiers a year ago? Are they still going to be part of the film? Anyone heard about that?

Well, I'm not gonna comment on Michael Bay because there are probably enough negative comments in this thread about him. Having said that, I would rather have a full CGI movie than a live-action movie where the actors 'interact' with CGI characters. I know a lot of people don't like full on CGI, but I personally don't mind. The men-in-suits with CGI faces sounds like the plan for me.

fixing the whole "looking at a golf ball" issue is easy.
just have the actor in a green suit and stamp the 3d model over him and his movements.

Just superimpose the mockette over him. That would be an interesting method. Definitely cheap.

When I heard about this movie I was pretty stoked. Another tmnt movie live action movie, just what the doctor ordered! Some people dont like Michael Bay, I however am a fan of some of the things he can accomplish. Its hard to think of a better raw action packed movie maker than him right now

Clearly. TMNT Part 4 was a critical flop and a (deservedly) financial letdown.

You'll never see another full-on TMNT CGI movie. Ever.

It did feel like sort of cop out from doing a live action. So I think you're right, Andrew.

I wouldn't call it a cop out. TMNT07 wasn't held back from greatness by being CGI, credit that to the script, childish/corny tone and most characterizations.

I'm glad they at least tried out the medium of computer animation.

The CGI was very well done I thought, the movie suffered due to the halfbaked plot more than any visuals.

Judging from the box office of recent Dreamworks and Pixar movies, clearly a lot of people enjoy CGI.

TMNT 4 marketing held it back more then anything else, and WB didn't consider it so much of a financial letdown as to not to go ahead and greenlight a CGI sequel.

Them's bold words right there.
I'd be willing to say that it's not probable that we'll see an entirely CGI turtle movie again, but make the claim that it's beyond the realm of the possible? That's bold, is what that is.

(Especially seeing as we're to be expecting a CGI cartoon in the next few years.)

I wouldn't say never. CGI wasnt TMNTs problem, it was pretty much everything else. And the future is a very very long time. If the turtles survive long enough, I'm pretty sure someone out there will give it another go. Plus, there's a chance that the CGI turtle series comin out might do some direct to DVD movie.

If kids back in 1990 loved the first tmnt film,I see no reason why they wouldn't like a darker tmnt film in todays age of gritty reboots.

I have a feeling that if Rise suddenly becomes a big hit and brings on the second turtlemania, that will give the creators of the film more liberty over the next film since the tmnt brand would generate good profit anyway.

On the other hand, if the show only performs average, then Nick will play it safe and make the next movie as light as the show by listening to what the charts say about the latest trends and their profit potential.
