No matter what, he would have submitted a pitch that IDW liked. And what is selling big right now for TMNT at IDW? Last Ronin. So it'd be a Last Ronin-flavored pitch, most likely.

Yeah a brief time skip after issue 150 would make sense, and be an easy way to do a "clean slate" and get rid of a lot of the baggage of all these exta supporting characters that have been lingering around. Not just the ones Sophie introduced but ones from Tom Waltz run too that haven't done anything but merely exist for awhile.

Five years is a bit much. They don’t *need* to be teenagers but I don’t think they need to skip through the remaining years of youth. You can set a new slate in 1-2 years I’d think.

It depends on how time moves in IDW TMNT. Is it like Mirage TMNT, where time is passing AND they're getting older? Or is it like Marvel and DC where time is passing but nobody's really getting any older?

Yeah, you guys are asking the right questions but it might be one of those things we don’t want to tug at too hard. I remember when it was confirmed that barely a year had passed during Peter Parker’s time as Spider-Man in the Bendis & Bagley USM comic and I sort of wish I never knew. Comic timelines can be awkward.

This is why a brand new writer is a good thing. The comic had gotten stale even before Sophie came on full time and felt like it was just retreading itself for awhile. A lot of the plots from before lingered into these 50 issues as well and some of them are still not done.
New blood and writing style is much needed. |

https://www.ign.com/articles/teenage...rs-jason-aaron Wow, what an unbelievable roster of artists. This whole relaunch looks like we are talking about high profile Big 2 title. As if IDW is putting everything on this series. Last edited by Shargor; 01-22-2024 at 10:35 AM. |

"Unbelievable roster of artists"? Those artworks seem pretty bland to me.

Honestly, I like all of them except for Raphael. I hate that angle of the bandannas.
Donatello's artist is the best by far.

What is this emotion I'm feeling? Is it... hope?
For real though, what a murderer's row of talent. I guess the surprise success of The Last Ronin finally made IDW realize that TMNT is still a big deal to a lot of people, and not just one of many old throwaway licenses to make mediocre comics out of. It's about time something like this happened. This should have happened when TMNT first went up for grabs 15 years ago. Where did Tom Waltz even come from? Was TMNT his first writing gig? Did IDW hire him off the street? Quote:

The fact that this is a continuation and not a full reboot makes me a little skeptical. But I'll check out the first few issues with an open mind and hope for the best.

Hell if you count Sophie making a cameo of her own fanfic female turtle from deviantart in that future issue, there are 5 female Mutant Turtles in IDW. Lmao. |

Tom Waltz had been working at IDW for years before they got the TMNT license. He's written over 500 published comics or books. https://www.amazon.com/stores/Tom-Wa...alEnabled=true https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/peopl...m-waltz/comics |

They seem OK. I like them best in order of right to left, on that image there.
