Hah!

But yeah, it's been a bit over a year since I last posted here. Life was busy and all that, long story short. However, I have been working my way towards catching back up on the IDW comic, and well, looks I'm right on time for seeing my brethren strut their stuff!

Oh my god, that was an intense issue

Spoiler:
Though it was obviously coming, I couldn't help but feel a little bad for the Triceratons when they just plopped themselves in the middle of a busy street and tried to make nice, and got confused by the panic .

I'm pretty sure there's a shout out to the J'gel when Zom is describing their history to Bishop, and boy are they slow burning the EPF watching Burnow Island from a distance. I'm a little surprised they haven't been noticed yet.

Bishop has told the Triceratons that the Utroms are on Earth and are "being closely watched", so that might go there somewhere in the next three issues.

And man oh man, Splinter popping in for at the very last second!

at least the triceritons didn't come in "hoo-mans on our planet, rargh! conquer conquer conquer!" They actually TRIED to talk to us first.

IDW is the best version of TMNT

If they make a TMNT reboot movie retelling the shredder battle/origin, I won't buy a ticket.

yeah that was definitely NOT what i was expecting.
the human reaction was so real though. made the comic very believable.

definitely was NOT expecting that ending either!!

Spoiler:
i just hope Master Splinter and the foot do not let the guard down to Bishop

Yeah, that was a pretty good touch there. Especially when they've already been shown to be diplomatic enough - and that's impressive for a species that was genetically engineered for violence.

Well, that was a bracing read! Only one issue in, and not only is this arc already better and more fast-paced than Trial of Krang, it's also gearing up to be quite possibly the best overall arc in IDW TMNT. It's the perfect blend of cosmic and street level, with oodles of action.

So the speculation about one of those shadows at the meeting with Bishop belonging to Old Hob was off, but with the Foot joining in the fun and the Purple Dragons following suit in the coming months, there's no way I can see the Mutanimals sitting this one out.

Also, could the fallout of this arc lead to the Turtles and mutants in general being outed to the public? Hmm...

Who's ready for all out war in the streets of Manhattan?

I guess this whole time everyone has thought there were no female Triceratons, when in reality they just look and sound exactly like the males...

I would have least have one being smaller than the other, but I'm not a little bit bothered by their sexual dimorphism being non-existent.

By some logic, it does make sense that the Utroms might not have wanted a breeding population. And, instead of taking the "Jurassic Park Risk" by engineering all females, they engineered all males based on their field experience and determined which would be better soldiers. But things went Jurassic Park on them anyway .

Well...something . Like shorter stature. Or different curvature in the frill.

Spoiler:
"Bishop, we have information regarding the aliens"
"Do the girl aliens have tiddies?"
"What???"
"Do the girl aliens have tiddies!?"

That actually pretty tense, you can really feel that stab in the back was coming but you didn't know how.

I kinda mixed on this issue while I did love the idea of the Triceratons being more diplomatic and friendly(seriously kudos on the writing team who thought of that) I did think it was kinda dumb for Bishop to attack them. I know Bishop is ment to be this super paranoid guy but if you are going to betray a race of Dinosaur people with enhance strength/durability and advance technology maybe try saboteur and spying instead full assualt. I mean I can understand him being distrustful but I was hoping he was going to be smart about it.

Full assault is probably going to be a bad idea anyway, since it would be harder to get access to technology.

And I mean...who wouldn't want a big ol' Triceratops mutant for a friend? Sure, it would take awhile for things to even out, but I just know the first people on the "let's be friends" boat are paleontologists and five year olds.

You know, when he gets beaten down and is about to be killed, I took one look at his messed-up face with the cyborg/robot bits underneath the fake skin, and I thought "What is even left of this guy?", as in, how much of his humanity is still in there? For all we know at this point, Agent Bishop is simply a shell in the image of a man and the only emotion (or the memory of one) left in him is wrath directed at any and all aliens.

The immigration metaphor doesn't even apply anymore, at least President Cheeto and his ilk aren't shooting foreigners down on sight... And as has been noted by many others, the Triceratons were perfectly reasonable, too. They seemed more than happy to coexist with humans. Even admiring of our kind. They didn't seem interested in outright conquest, but in making a new home for themselves here on Earth. I'm sure a solution could've been arranged, if only someone, anyone, other than Paranoid McMetalFace were there to greet them...

So everything that happens next is ultimately and completely on Bishop.

I think that if it weren't Bishop coming to "handle" them, it would be the actual military. Probably a few days after the Triceratons started a panic. But then again, those few days would probably have made time to get things sorted.

So yeah, I'm going to agree that everything that goes wrong in the next five issues is all on Bishop. Though, Splinter showing up and pinning Zom would not have been helpful to the situation at all.

What I don't get (I mean, I get it in the sense that the story needs to happen, but in-universe) is why they didn't go to someone in a position of leadership on Earth first, instead of just beaming down onto a busy Manhattan street in broad daylight. Why not figure out who our leaders are? Talk to the President, to the UN, I don't know. And speaking of, isn't the EPF accountable to the POTUS? Shouldn't he have been informed about, y'know, the alien ships stationed behind the moon? It's something you don't see everyday, and then the whole thing could've been handled by (relatively) cooler heads. And it's not like the Triceratons don't understand how that works, after all they were dealing directly with King Zenter before the mess started.
