I'd recommend watching the current arc in the season, especially if you prefer earlier seasons. It's good.

So basically this is a 2 part movie like originally planned.

Thanos and the Black Order collect the Infinity Stones in Part I. Thanos then wields the Gauntlet and the ensuing aftermath is Part II.

After the lukewarm reception to the last two Hunger Game movies, and I think there was a Divergent two-parter that never materialized, Feige's probably trying to distance Avengers 3 and 4 from that formula so that people aren't turned off.

I guess I can see how either order would work, War/Gauntlet or Gauntlet/War.

I never for a moment believed that the story was going to be completely resolved at the end of A3, but I figured Marvel's emphasis that this is not a Part I/Part II situation would mean that there's more breathing space between the two, that they're not going to end A3 with a super dramatic will-they-live-will-they-die cliffhanger

It would be pretty cool if they ended Infinity War with Thanos using the newly formed Gauntlet to wipe out half of the population. Doubt that happens though especially with 2 MCU movies before A4.

I'm just trying to imagine Infinity War ending with the Avengers sort of winning a little battle, and Thanos running away like, "Hahaha... next time I'll have you! And now I have my gauntlet fully loaded!"

That would be lame. Anything remotely close to that would be lame.

A smarter thing will be the avengers winning actually helping Thanos gather all the gems. It would seem like a victory but it would be 'all part of the plan' for Thanos.

The hard part is ending it in a way for other movies to happen in between of this and the grand finale.

Makes sense, since doesn't GotG 2 take place like right after 1? And it's already been years since then? Probably adult Groot in Infinity War.
