I like her as a journalist/reportner.

Being a programmer doesn't give her too many options to be useful other than being a back up Donatello. If she is a journalist April can be oh-so conveniently at just the right place at just the right time...because she's nosy. Also as a journalist one can maybe assume she is a bit of a jack of all trades because she has to get the hot scoop. And April will do anything it takes to get it.

It makes her a very proactive character without having to make her a fighter. I prefer it that way.

Summed it up better than I could.

I don't think so.

I forgot which season 5 episode it was in which April rode a motorcycle and wore a blue helmet (Leonardo the Renissance Turtle I think it was).

That's what I imagine she would've been like as a policewoman

Shredder could've done more than blow up the Channel Six building. I don't mean as far as murdering Splinter, but think of the possibilities if censors were not an issue.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

She wore the helmet whenever she rode the newscycle, but I think the first appearance of it was in "Burne's Blues," from season 3.

I wonder if her being a journalist from the very beginning was a decision influenced by Superman having Lois as a reporter.

Anyway as for her best job? Cleaning up after the turtles living in her apartment in the second movie lol. Joking joking joking.

News reporter of course. She gets the scoop, and a reporter is always investigating anyways, which lets her help out the Turtles.

Yep, that was what David Wise has said in interviews. He pretty much discarded the roles the original character had and took mostly the name only.

I believe her original job was a science assistant for Baxter Stockman.

I couldn't choose between the science/tech role and her 2007 role. I like the 2k7 job but it suited that story line, so far as what works in the general stories I would go for the science/tech role.
