The strange thing is, the Turtles in this universe are instructed not to kill.

But the Mirage Turtles showed no remorse in killing Foot Soldiers. I wonder if this will be brought up at all in this annual.

Have you been paying attention to Splinter's arc at all? His philosophy on that is shifting rather quickly.

Isn't it twice as big as their $3.99 issues? That would make sense.

I have to make sure my comic guy gets this for me. Sometime he doesn't automatically pull things that aren't the main book.

Same thing happens to me. I asked my local comic shop about it and they looked at me like I was crazy. He was like you get all the turtles stuff. This is the same place that didn't get me the first 3 micros

For 48 pages of Eastman work, that's a steal. Why the "Ugh"?

Granted, it is Kevin frikin' Eastman. So I'll be willing to buy it regardless.

But I just don't know the comics business model well enough to know whether or not 48-page issues tend to sell for that much these days. I was expecting something closer to $6.

I guess I'm still living in the 90s... heck, even the 00s.

I was going to say $8 sounds awesome. I mean if this isn't one of those retailers set price books. Now those can get crazy. I'm just really really excited.

If you break it down, it's like, exactly two issues in one. & usually one issue costs $4. So you're getting two issues worth for... two issues worth.

Yeah, I know, but I figure the cost of putting a single comic together probably costs a certain amount that isn't necessarily proportionate to the actual number of pages. For instance, I wouldn't expect a 15 page comic book to cost exactly half as much as a 30 page comic book. I figure most of the cost lies in just getting the darn thing printed and bound together. I certainly understand that page number ought to have some impact on price, but it just doesn't seem like the costs would necessarily double.

Anyhoo... I've said more about this than I ever cared to write. Like I said, I'm just an idiosyncratic comic buyer ("gimmie my Turtles, Mega Man, and Ghostbusters"!) who hasn't followed the changes in the market over the last decade. I'm also a bit of tightwad when it comes to buying DVDs, video games, and comic books. There was once a time when I even thought the Mirage comics were expensive at $3.25.

Bottom line is that I'll almost certainly end up buying this one regardless. It's Kevin frikin' Eastman after all.

You make very good points, Oldmanwinters. I guess I maintain my process of thought as good mood justifications for pricier paper goods purchases. Also nice to see we're still on the same page (if that's a pun, it's unintended) on what books to subscribe to. Granted I also follow Usagi, though it's been on hiatus.
