Also, unless we're to believe that there is any strong chance they'll just reboot things the next movie with James Bond starting up from the bottom again ala Casino Royale, this seems like 100% confirmation that 007 and/or "James Bond" will now become a guise that is passed onto a new person every so often.

Will it be a black guy or a woman right away? No, I don't think so. They should already know that the nature of such a change -- killing off a Bond -- is a touchy thing to begin with... risking making the whole property radioactive by doing something hasty on top of that wouldn't be advisable and they'd know that. Not right away, at least.

So a false rumour on reddit is that

Spoiler:
Bond's last words are "No, time to die"

However, what actually happens is

Spoiler:
Bond tells Swann that she has "all the time in the world" calling back to Tracy's death from On Her Majesty's Secret Service. The Louis Armstrong song plays at the end when Swann and Bond's daughter drive off

All these reviews talking about "this movie really brings Bond into modern times," I've noticed, don't actually elaborate how it does that.

Is it because of the strong, independent woman 007? Is it because the movie
Spoiler:
kills off the ultimate straight white male as some kind of effigy for pesky straight white males in general
? If not, then how?

I don't know, after all these decades a movie finally kills of Bond? That's fresh and something they had never done. It works here because it's a standalone series of only this bond, they aren't killing the previous bonds.

I think it's cool, I wish my father could've been able to see it since it's something different. He would've been happy at least to have his most hated bond die, well technically to him he wasn't even James Bond. Who knows what will happen with the franchise but I think it's exciting, Daniel Craig had too long of a run despite only being 5 movies.

Movie reviews are worthless nowadays, perhaps they always were but by watching a trailer and getting the opinion of someone you trust is far better than any reactions you see online. People who see the movie before? They always tend to be super positive before the movie comes out. The movie makes some type of political statement? It'll be trashed or loved by those who like/don't like that statement. The movie is made by Marvel? AAA MUST WATCH. DC? SUCKS. Mainstream geek? WE LOVE IT. scifi rehash? SUCKS DONT WATCH. Independent movie? *crickets*

I would be OK with killing Bond, if it was not done in this atmosphere of cultural war.
Where Bond's death was just that - a death of a great character in the fun and cool story.

But I guess, I want too much, huh?
So left parasites gonna swarm all over "meaning" about Bond's death and how its time to change him into "crippled trans Latino Black Asian autistic wheelchair bound non-binary Xir Furry".

My review

Spoiler:

It's definitely got a more restrained feel to it. Bond doesn't go out and conquer any other female other than Swann (and even then, their sex is blink and miss)

Swann is an interesting character let down by an annoying actress. For some reason, she takes Bond back but is content to let him think he isn't the child's father until Safin tells him the girl is his.

Speaking of the villain... he's barely in it. The first half teases a much more interesting plot with Safin vs Spectre...but then does nothing with it, nerfing one of Bond's biggest bads in the process with considerable ease, though at the very least Bond gets the final say on Blofeld's fate, the nanobots do their business, but they only do so because Bond is emotionally compromised and wrings his neck

Safin gets his licks in with a few shots and is the one to poison Bond, but is pretty much a pushover. His men are all wiped out because they happen to be lousy shots and Bond's got plot armour enabled

I will say one thing, Bond's female agent contact in Cuba is someone he should have banged. She's lovable, kickass, draws a fine line between intelligent and somewhat ditzy, she'd have been a perfect female 007, and she had a lot more quirks and range. And she's only in it for ten minutes

I thought for sure that Bond would see a vision of Vesper drowning when he saw Felix's corpse floating in the water, just to draw parallels

Overall judgment is that it's a fun, if predictable, Bond adventure that ties up all the loose ends of Craig's era, Bond is still the lead and gets the lion's share of the action...but even with the ending in mind, it feels very safe because you know, regardless of where we are in the world, Bond keeps us safe, and here he once again does that.

The film is making big money internationally before its North America debut.

Spoiler:
Yup, that's exactly what happens and Swann begins tells her daughter the story of Bond. Also, the end credits said "James Bond will return" which somebody in the audience was in disbelief since we saw him get blown up but I suspected that the explosion pushed him off the building and into the water if this is true. But he got infected by the nanobots so that's something to remember as well.

Really enjoyed the movie. Can't say this was my overall favorite movie in the series but it did not disappoint. Though I'm still not attached to Swann. She's a very bland character and love interest.

The movie was well worth the wait. I really was on the edge of my seat during so many moments throughout it. There was plenty of good old-fashioned action and excellent Bond Girls and villains.

Spoiler:
Craig's Bond really did go out in style. It was very sad to see James die, but he knew it had to happen. At least he and Vesper are now reunited in the afterlife.

I enjoyed it but it was pretty joyless as a Bond movie. Ana De Armas was the highlight of the movie but she's only in it for 5 minutes and then you never see her again.

Spoiler:
In the end, even if it's well made and it is, it's another Bond movie where there's no gadgets, Bond doesn't womanize at all, they turn Q gay, and the moments of dark humor is super rare. And I was glad they were willing to bring back Blofeld and SPECTRE... I just didn't figure it would be just to immediately destroy them. Surely the idea of SPECTRE was to establish them and Blofeld as ongoing threats and not just something to be mopped up in the new movie.

With how they advertised the new allies on trailers, I was thinking she was going to return later but nope. It felt like Hobbs and Shaw where Eiza Gonzalez was on the poster only to appear in the movie for 5 minutes. Granted, I don't recall much advertisements for her but still.

I really wonder if there was more to Ana's part that was cut. Maybe they DID hook up before the big action scene but they cut it because they decided it was "too yesterday's Bond," or that it took away from the main love interest.

I saw the movie today, it was a good sendoff for Daniel Craig's Bond. I never expected them to end a James Bond run like that so it was quite surprising.

Q being a gay homosexual and having a strong black female 007 who don't need no man definitely feel like "pandering to modern times" but I didn't mind it too much. Also it makes sense for Bond not to flirt with other women when he has a woman who has his daughter.

Overall a fitting end to Daniel Craig's tenure as Bond for 15 years. Next movie is definitely going to be a clean slate again.
