2. Inside the Microwave Transmission Center, the buttons on Shredder's Com-link are missing.
3. The Channel 6 Easter Egg Hunt banner changes from white to pink when we cut to a shot of only right portion of the sign visible with the Turtles, April, Mildred, and Hokum in front of the Turtle Van.

Pizza References:

Pop Culture References:
1. The episode title is dervied from the Aesop fable The Tortoise and The Hare.

3. This episode takes place at Easter, and is reflected by Donatello's Easter Egg machine, Easter Baskets, Bebop and Rocksteady's Easter Bunny disguises, and an Easter Egg Hunt.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. Right before Rocksteady and Bebop walk through the portal, Rocksteady says that this episode is going to be full of rabbit jokes.
2. After Shredder tells Rocksteady and Bebop to leave the Channel 6 studio, they say that someday they'll have their own show and they'll be the boss of Shredder.

Wacky Inventions:
1. Krang's Docilizer
2. Donatello's East Egg-Making Machine
3. Donatello's Portable Spectrascope
4. Syranium Crystal Refractor
5. Donatello's Dimensional Scanner

Notables:

This is also the final episode in which Michelangelo's nunchucks are visible behind his shell, except for a brief appearance in "Landlord of the Flies" and in the European Vacation episodes that aired out of order.
2. The original opening sequence last seen in "Back to the Egg" returns for this and the following episode.

Mistakes:
1. Raphael is colored like Leonardo after the Turtles stopped looking at their older counterparts at their mansion.
2. In this episode, Shredder's Com-link is missing its yellow and red buttons and is mirror-flipped.
3. The Turtles board the subway for the future at the Central Avenue Station, but in the real NYC, there is no subway station with that name.
4. During Old April's report, Old Leonardo's belt initial is colored like it was in Season 2.

Catchphrase/Insult Countdown:

2. Michelangelo is seen eating pizza in the lair, but Splinter takes it away from him noting that all those calories will make him fat.
3. Michelangelo's Cowabunga Pizza is a pizzeria in 2036, topped with a statue of Michelangelo holding a pizza.
4. Reginald delivers Old Michelangelo about nine pizzas and eats one.
5. Old Michelangelo offers young Michelangelo a piece of his farewell pizza right before he returns to 1991.
6. Hokum is seen with three pizza boxes has he stands in Donatello's portal.

Pop Culture References:
1. The subway in 1991 shows some graffiti, including the Peace Sign when April signs out of her report on crime.

3. When Hokum sees a statue of the Turtles in the future, Hokum says that they are more famous than Little Bo Peep.
4. As Hokum enters Donatello's portal, he says that Hansel and Gretel would love the Turtles' pizzas.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. Hokum says he sees the same bad guys he met on the last episode when he peeks down into the subway car in which Shredder and his mutants are on.
2. Jersey Red says "I always wanted to say that" when she forces the police officers against the wall inside the police station.
3. After Donatello says that there is less than 15 minutes remaining to save the future and return to 1991, Raphael asks him if that counts the commercial break.

Episode 107: My Brother, the Bad Guy
Written by: Dennis O'Flaherty

Barry Gordon: Donatello, Bebop
Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil
Rob Paulsen: Raphael
Peter Renaday: Splinter, Vernon Fenwick
Unknown Voice Actor: Ninja Museum Policemen, Kazuo Saki's Identification Device Voice

Mistakes:
1. Beginning with this episode and continuing with all CBS episodes through Season 7, Rob Paulsen's last name in the credits is incorrectly spelled "Paulson".
2. Rocksteady's dagger is missing from his back when he and Bebop are firing their guns at the police from the university window as Donatello watches them.
3. Given that in Japanese naming conventions that the last name comes before the first name, Shredder's brother's last name is Saki instead of Oroku.
4. When Michelangelo says "come on!" during Vernon's news report, his mouth doesn't move.

Catchphrase/Insult Countdown:
1. After the Turtlecom conversation with April, Donatello wonders what Tin Grin is up to.
2. Shredder calls Rocksteady and Bebop imbeciles at the electronics factory when we first see him there.
3. Shredder calls Rocksteady and Bebop when they fight over the lever on what they suspected to be an arcade machine.
4. Shredder calls Rocksteady a fool when he instructs him to pull the sheet off of the Kojima Brothers' Holograms.
5. Bebop says "Mama" when Shredder reveals the holograms.
6. Krang says "what about those blasted Turtles" during his Com-link conversation with Shredder.
7. Shredder tells the Kojima Brothers inside the electronics hideout to destroy the Turtles.
8. The Kojima Brothers say in unison "Destroy the Turtles" when they encounter them in the sewers.
9. Leonardo says "Turtles, Fight with Honor" after Kazuo explains that its his responsibility to arrest Shredder.
10. The Kojuma Brothers say "Destroy the Turtles" right after the second commercial break.
11. Leonardo, Raphael, and Michelangelo say "Turtle Power" after Splinter tells them to fight with honor during the hologram battle.
12. After the Kojima Brothers are defeated and the Turtles head after Shredder, they all says "Let's Kick Some Shell!"
13. Krang calls Shredder a bucket brain when he sees that the Technodrome is sinking deeper into the lava. In response, Shredder calls Krang a nasty little hump of ganglia.
14. Shredder calls Kazuo a brat after he knocks away his gun that he was about to fire at the Turtles.
15. Shredder calls Kazuo a soft-hearted wimp when Kazuo challenges him to a fight at the fusion plant and throws him back through the portal.

Pizza References:
1. After Donatello shows Michelangelo his snack machine, Michelangelo asks him if he is sure he doesn't want him to go for pizza.
2. Rocksteady said that in the sewers that a good place to place the Hologram Projector is near Vinnie's Pizzeria.
3. Michelangelo says that he still sprouts for pizza at the end of the episode, instead of the sushi that Splinter offers.

Pop Culture References:
1. The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force flag is seen in this episode.
2. The Kurokuwa-shu originally appeared in the manga Lone Wolf and Cub, written by Kazuo Koike.
3. When Rocksteady and Bebop head off to take the Hologram Projector into the sewers, Shredder says that it will be "finders weepers", a parody on the expression "Finders Keepers" which is also the name of several films and a Nickelodeon Game show in the late 1980s.
4. Rocksteady's line of "come and get me copper" is a tribute to James Cagney in the 1949 film White Heat. Rocksteady also says that he heard it in a movie once. After Rocksteady ducks from a laser, Bebop says that they must have seen the same movie.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. After the Turtles and Kazuo Saki agree that Shredder is behind the theft, Raphael asks if TV has commercials.
2. Rocksteady says that he always wanted to say the line "come and get me coppers."

Wacky Inventions:
1. Shredder's getaway van
2. The Giant Magnet
3. Lieutenant Saki's Identification Device
4. Hologram Projector
5. Donatello's Snack Machine
6. The Kojima Brothers Holograms

Kidnapping:
Shredder handcuffs Kazuo to a pole in the fusion power plant.

Notables:
1. Final appearance of the Dimension X Asteroid.
2. For the first time in this series, the Technodrome changes its location early in the season rather than at the finale.
3. First episode that takes place in real time in Japan; Turtle Tracks and Blast From the Past featured flashback scenes.
4. First episode of Season 5 that aired on CBS Saturday Morning. The two-part episode Planet of the Turtleoids was shown as a primetime special on CBS prior to this episode, but since the Technodrome is already established in the Arctic, that is not the first episode in the current canon of this season.
5. The second introduction sequence returns, and will continue to be used until the European Vacation episodes.
6. During the closing credits, the theme is slightly shortened at the end in order to make way for a musical stinger over the MWS logo, which consists of seven notes, with the sixth note longer than the others.
7. Showing how weak Bebop's memory is, he asks what a hologram is to Shredder like he completely forgot the concept from the episode Cowabunga, Shredhead. Splinter, however, recalls the events of that episode telling Kazuo Saki that the last time that Shredder used holograms, he was planning to kidnap the President.

Townsend Coleman: Michelangelo, First Army Officer
Pat Fraley: Police Chief
Barry Gordon: Donatello
Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil
Rob Paulsen: Raphael
Peter Renaday: Splinter, Mr. X
Unknown Voice Actor: Mondo Gecko

Mistake:
The truck hijacking news got out so quickly. It was out in the middle of nowhere, but April's on the case shortly after.

Catchphrase/Insult Countdown:
1. Basher calls Michelangelo "fishfood breath".
2. As Basher smashes Michelangelo's Turtlecom, he calls him a shellback.
3. Mondo Gecko calls Basher a cheesehead and a dweeb as he betrays them.
4. Mr. X calls Basher and Sluggo idiots after Mondo Gecko knocks them down. After Basher knocks over and triggers the Super Explosive, Mr. X calls him a clumsy fool.

2. After Splinter hypnotizes Michelangelo, he tells him that he senses himself alone on a desert island made completely with pizza.
3. Donatello cooks a hot oatmeal pizza and is seen eating pizza with Raphael. After Leonardo asks him where he'd last see Michelangelo, he opens the refrigerator and a stack of pizza pans is seen.
4. As Mondo Gecko threatens to fire at Michelangelo, Michelangelo tells Mr. X that he's a pizza man himself.

Pop Culture References:
1. Mr. X is also the name of the main villain of the main antagonist and final boss in the Streets of Rage video games, and are both powerful crime lords. The first game in the series was released a month before this episode first aired.
2. Devil's Mountain, Mr. X's hideout, has no such real place name on Earth. It is perhaps in reference to Devil's Peak in Cape Town, South Africa.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. In the warehouse, Mondo Gecko says to Michelangelo that he first met him at the end of Act One, right before the first commercial break.
2. Michelangelo says "You kids might not want to watch this part" when Basher and Sluggo force the truck with Michelangelo down the mountain.
3. As Michelangelo is stranded inside the truck as it travels down the mountain, he hopes that there's a cartoon in his entire life before his eyes.
4. Michelangelo says "where have I heard that one before" as his pendant fails to work on Mondo Gecko initially.

Wacky Inventions:
1. The Super Explosive
2. Mondo Gecko's power Skateboard
3. Donatelo's Neuton Divider Tracking Device on the Turtle Blimp's controls

Kidnappings:
1. Mondo Gecko briefly kidnaps Michelangelo, hanging him upside down in the sewers.
2. Mondo Gecko kindaps Michelangelo in the warehouse by throwing a fishing net on him, and then the basher carries him off into the bed of a pickup truck.
3. The Turtles kidnap Mr. X, Sluggo, and Basher and trap them inside the hideout.

Notables:
1. First appearance of Mondo Gecko.
2. Michelangelo's dream of the baby Turtles landing in the sewers on top of the ooze is different from the one shown on Turtle Tracks.

Barry Gordon: Donatello, Bebop
Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil
Rob Paulsen: Raphael, Seymour Gutz/Mutagen Man
Peter Renaday: Splinter, Vernon Fenwick, Butch O'Reilly

Mistakes:
1. Seymour is able to mutate non-organic material such as clothing and Shredder's metal mask. Plus, pay attention to Krang, when he tells Seymour to mutate into Shredder, his tentacle goes magically through the monitor screen.
2. When April uses her Turtlecom to contact the Turtles when she's trapped on the sky tram, it is depicted like the Turtles version.
3. Donatello's belt initial has a white D with a grey outline like it was in Season 2 when he and Michelangelo hog tie Bebop.
4. During Act Two, Seymour's animation is mirror-flipped.
5. The mud and the surface in which the Transport Module was on were the same color when the Module heads underground when Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady head towards the space station.
6. When Raphael says "Not from where I'm standing" as they peek into the basement of Ace Scientific Company, his mouth doesn't move for part of that line.
7. In the first shot of the Ace Scientific Company building as the Turtles peek from the manhole cover, the word "ACE" is missing above the 655 and corporate logo, but is visible when we see a shot of it with Mutagen Man a moment later. It is also visible when we see a shot of the Channel 6 van with nobody on the street, but the next time it is shown as April and the disguised Mutagen Man as Irma head towards the Channel 6 News Van, the word "ACE" is missing.
8. The Channel 6 building is misspelled "CHANEL" in the shot of the Turtles running towards the building.

Catchphrase/Insult Countdown:
1. The Turtles say "Go Green Machine" when the decide to check out Ace Scientific Company as they leave the Lair.
2. Michelangelo says "Cowabunga" as he swings across the street to clear the disguised Old Lady out of harm from the traffic.
3. Leonardo and Raphael say "Turtle Power" as they jump into a dump chute at the unfinished skyscraper.
4. The Turtles say "It's Turtle Time!" as they jump off a bus near the river when they see April.
5. Krang refers to Mutagen Man as an idiot right before he returns to Shredder's hideout.
6. The Turtles say "Turtle Power" after Krang is distracted by the Bebop clone.
7. Shredder calls the Turtles two-towed twits after he discovers that he dumped the mutagen into the disposal system.

Pizza References:
1. Michelangelo would rather explore the surface of a pizza than the planet Venus.
2. A pizza joint is visible in the shot where the disguised Old Lady is stuck in the middle of the street fighting traffic.
3. Michelangelo cooks up some pizzas and hands one to Donatello saying that there's nothing like a bubbling pizza after a long day of making the world safe from tyrants.

Pop Culture Reference:
Raphael tells Butch that he'd get the Congressional Medal of Horror, a parody of the Congressional Medal of Honor if he captures and defeats the Turtles.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. Krang says he's telling the audience about how he and Shredder must get the mutagen before the rocket lifts off.
2. Krang calls Bebop and Rocksteady morons after they tell him how they failed to retrieve the Byndex-3.
3. Raphael tells the construction worker "don't you guys watch Television" to tell him that the Turtles are not Alien Invaders.

Wacky Inventions:
1. Byndex-3
2. The Central-Matic Waste Disposal System

Kidnappings:
1. Mutagen Man disguises as Irma and locks her in a janitor closet in the Ace building.
2. Seymour disguised as an Old Lady throws Donatello and Michelangelo into a dumpster in the alley near the Channel 6 building and locks it.
3. When a disguised Vernon mutates back into Mutagen Man, he quickly turns around, grabs April, ties her up, and hangs her on an aerial tramway en route to be shredded.
4. The Turtles tie up Bebop and Rocksteady near the launch pad.

Notables:
1. First appearance of the Transport Modules since "The Big Rip Off".
2. Mutagen Man's Playmates toy lists him as a bad guy, however in this episode he as Seymour is a good guy designated to retrieve the Byndex-3 against his own desire by Shredder.
3. Burne tells Vernon that his namesake talk show, which was shown to be a hit in the episode "The Dimension X Story," is getting lousy ratings and Irma mentions that his talk show is about to be cancelled.

Jennifer Darling: Irma Langinstein, Bedelia Badd, First Woman in Salon
Pat Fraley: Burne Thompson, Buford Badd
Barry Gordon: Donatello
Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil, Second Woman in Salon
Rob Paulsen: Raphael, Bubba Badd

Mistakes:
1. When Splinter speaks to Donatello about his camoflauge to the Turtle Van, the right-side (on Splinter's left) yellow symbol on his kimono is missing in a couple of shots.
2. In a side view of the Turtle Van as the Badd's drive it, the rectangular border surrounding the word TURTLES is white instead of green.
3. When the Power Sizer is in the Turtle Van in the Badd's control, we see a shot of a street with the shops "ViDEO WORLD" and "STANS" in the same block, with their lights on. When we cut back to the street after a scene inside the Turtle Van, we not only see ViDEO WORLD and STANS again in the same block, but the lights have also turned off.
4. In the next shot, when the Turtle Van crashes into two cars at an intersection, the traffic signals not only are missing a yellow light, but each side has two lights of the same color rather than red and green.

Catchphrase/Insult Countdown:
1. Burne says "go go go go" when he requests April and Irma to check out the scene of the crime victims at the beauty salon.
2. Michelangelo says to Donatello that he needs some Turtle Van Power.
3. April says "This is April O'Neil, Channel 6 News" when she starts her news report at Keppel Research Laboratories.
4. April says to Buford "let go of me you cornfed gorilla" when he grabs her and Irma.
5. April says "what a story!" when she picks her her news camera after the Badds leave the research laboratory.

9. The Turtles say "let's turtleize them" during the battle with the Badd's.

Pizza References:
1. The episode opens with Michelangelo opening the freezer noticing that the pizzas are melting, and Michelangelo throws one pizza to Leonardo, who tehn passes it to Raphael, who then puts it in the oven. They are then shown eating the pizza a minute minute later, in which Michelangelo says about Donatello that all work and no pizza makes a dull dude.
2. Vinnie's pizza billboard is visible next to the Channel 6 building.
3. Michelangelo blew a fuse, causing the Lair to lose power when he was microwaving about ten pizzas.

Pop Culture References:
1. When Donatello says "Chalk up another one for science" in the Turtle Van, that may be a reference to the quote "Chalk up another one for the Fonz" from Happy Days.
2. Leonardo is reading an issue of Crimestoppers weekly. Crimestoppers is an organization that involves providing information about crime activity.
3. Bedelia opens up a western-style wanted poster in the Turtle Van after it stops.
4. Bubba wants to watch the Mighty Muskrat cartoon, in reference to the Mighty Mouse cartoon instead of retrieving the diamond while in the Turtle Van.
5. Donatello says that he read the latest information on the Power Sizer in the latest issue of GQ: Genius Quarterly, which is a spoof on the magazine Gentlemen's Quarterly.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. April tells Dr. Keppel to tell our audience about the diamond.
2. Donatello says "people think we geniuses have it easy" when he says that he has to outsmart his inventions while driving the Badd's car.
3. Raphael asks Leonardo to explain what Donatello has been doing for the entire episode when Leonardo is talking to him on the Turtlecom.
4. In the shot of Dr. Keppel with a swirl of smoke behind him, he says that he hates flashbacks as much as you do but somewhat has to explain what's going on.
5. Raphael says "don't ever try this at home, kids; we're professionals" after he slides down the building using a grappling hook onto the top of the Turtle Van.
6. Right as the Turtle Van stops, Donatello says "as they say in all those cartoons, phew that was close."

Wacky Inventions:
1. The Turtle Van's parachute braking system
2. Dr. Keppel's Power Sizer
3. The Turtle Van's smokescreen machine
4. The Badd's Getaway Vehicle's vacuum
5. The Turtle Van's springboard on its roof
6. The Turtle Van's Mud Missles
5. The Badd's Getaway Vechicle's Ice Missle

Kidnapping:
Bedelia shoves and locks Donatello into the trunk of the Badd's car.

Notables:
1. First episode in which Splinter is voiced by Townsend Coleman.
2. Only episode in which the tension theme plays immediately after the commercial break.

Unknown Voice Actor: News Vendor, Tall Criminal

Mistakes:
1. In April's report at the shopping mall she says that the skies are clear, though they are actually partly cloudy.
2. In a closeup shot of the Entire State Building's elevator up/down buttons, they are shown with a grey outline and orangish red buttons, but in the next shot as Swatter enters the elevator, both the up/down buttons and outline are gold.
3. After the Turtles return to the Lair, Donatello's "D" is missing in the first shot inside the Lair.

Catchphrase/Insult Countdown:
1. Michelangelo says "Cowabunga" as he launches his grappling hook at two criminals in order to save Jerry Spiegel.
2. Michelangelo says "holy guacamole" after his phone call with Juliet.
3. When Donatello speaks to Swatter on the roof of the skyscraper, he refers to Shredhead about him ripping off his costume.
3. Michelangelo calls Brick Bradley a wimped-out crumb in the Turtle Van.

Notables:
*1. When Shredder and his mutants head back to the Transport Module, some stock dialogue voiced by Jim Cummings recorded for another episode is heard. This reveals that this episode was aired out of order with regards to when the episodes of Season 5 were recorded.
2. Michelangelo is shown holding a pair of nunchucks in the shot of the Turtles in the alley where Muckman, Joe Eyeball, April and Irma.
3. Not counting the Vacation in Europe, final appearance of the Shredder's theme background music.

2. The Star of Hoboken diamond that Shredder gives to Big Louie may be in reference to the Star of the East diamond that was purchased from Cartier Paris by Evalyn Walsh McLean.
3. Michelangelo is playing his Kung Fu Surfers video game which includes a surfer jumping a shark on a surfboard. The expression "Jump the Shark" refers to the moment that any TV Show or any other pop cultural franchise's quality begins to go downhill, and it was first shown by Fonzie on the sitcom Happy Days.
4. Raphael mentions the Empire State Building in this episode.

Rob Paulsen: Raphael, Professor Wilhelm Vanilli
Peter Renaday: Splinter, Vernon Fenwick, Man with Green Shirt and Gun
Unknown Voice Actor: Man With Bucket

Mistakes:
1. The "6" on the Channel 6 building is yellow instead of red when a shot of the building is first shown, and later on in the episode as the camera pans up the front of the building to April's Newscopter.
2. Donatello and Raphael have their Season 2-style belt initials when Raphael says "Adios Amigo" after his healthometer test.
3. Raphael's eyes have red eyelids when he blinks after he purchases a costume at the costume shop, even though they were phased out for green eyelids during Season 3.
4. Part of the Channel 6 logo on the news van is filled red instead of white when April drives up to the Police Sergeant.

3. Professor Wilhelm Vanilli may be named after Botanist Jerry Wilhelm.
4. Splinter says "A healthy mind in a healthy body" to Leonardo, Raphael, and Michelangelo when Donatello brings over the healthometer, which is based upon the Latin expression "Mens sana in corpore sano".
5. While Raphael is wandering off in the sewers and some water drips on top of his head, he says that his head is catching a "Cold Sweat", a Top 10 soul/funk song for James Brown in 1967.
6. Since Professor Vanilli says "Aloha" when he grabs Vernon's microphone and due to the fact that the island that the volcano is on is named Poppalua, this may be a reference to Kapalua on the Hawaiian island of Maui.

Mistakes:
1. The interior of the transport module is grey when Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady arrive at the stadium. In addition, they are also drawn off model when they exit it and there are no seats visible inside.
2. The telephone that Michelangelo dials in the Lair only has nine buttons, as their are ten digits and a standard keypad has twelve buttons.
3. Like in the episode Muckman Messes Up, Krang has dark purple corneas instead of lilac.
4. In a shot where the Turtles are pulling out the ragtops from two convertibles, there are rather tall mountains visible behind the city, which does not exist in the real NYC.

Catchphrase/Insult Countdown:
1. Baxter calls Bebop and Rocksteady moronic mutants when he first sees them.

11. Michelangelo calls Shredder "Shredhead" when he sees him inside the stadium.
12. Leonardo calls Shredder "Tin Grin" after he is freed from the tarf.

Pizza References:
1. Splinter tells the Turtles to get rid of their unfinished portions of pizza, as we see a shot of some nearly empty pizza boxes with some flies swarming over the crumbs.
2. Michelangelo orders pizza on the phone in the lair and asks the other Turtles if they want extra pepperoni on their pizza. We then discover he is calling Vinnie's pizza, where he promises to deliver pizza within 30 minutes.
3. Michelangelo picks up one family sized pizza with extra marshmallows, only to open it up and see that a bunch of flies have eaten nearly the whole pizza and swarm the Lair. As a result of this, Splinter suggests that the Turtles go out for pizza next time.
4. Vinnie's Pizza's billboard next to the Channel 6 building is visible.
5. When Michelangelo is in the Channel 6 Copter, he says that he could go for a garlic pizza with chocolate syrup and shrimp.
6. After the battle, Leonardo is holding a pizza, a whole pizza sits on the coffee table in front of the couch, and Raphael is eating a slice of pizza while the Turtles watch April's report on their TV set. The episode ends with Donatello eating a pizza and a pizza box that says Vinnie's Pizza is shown on the floor.

Pop Culture References:
1. The episode title is in reference to the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding.
2. Krang says to Baxter that has "fly by night" tactics, which may refer to the Rush album, the 1942 Thriller movie, or the 1968 children's novel by K.M. Peyton.

6. Donatello tells Rocksteady and Bebop on the bridge that its way past the Age of Miracles, which may be in reference to the 1985 John Brunner science fiction novel.
7. The stadium is a baseball stadium, and the Turtles give out some baseball lingo, such as "7th inning stretch", "pop fly", and "back to the minors". Leonardo is also holding a baseball bat after he is freed from the tarf.
8. Raphael says "The Silence of the Flies" when he notices how quiet it is at first inside the stadium. This is a spoof of the 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs.
9. Donatello says at the stadium "It ain't over until the Portable Portal Generator sings," a reference to the popular expression "It ain't over until the Fat Lady sings."

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. Donatello doesn't want to ruin the surprise for the viewers when Michelangelo asks him "what is the plan, Stan?"
2. At the stadium, Raphael looks directly at the screen and says "How come Donatello gets to make all of the grand entrances?"

Townsend Coleman: Michelangelo, Rat King, Mayor
Barry Gordon: Donatello, Donatello's Cloned Rat
Renae Jacobs: April O’Neil
Rob Paulsen: Raphael, McFingers' Thug #2
Peter Renaday: Splinter, Vernon Fenwick

Mistakes:
1. When Raphael answered April's call, the top of the back of his Turtlecom was grey.
2. When Raphael blames Donatello on the clone he built of himself inside the Turtle Van, the shot of the shell on the front bumper says "TURTLE" instead of "TURTLES".

Catchphrase/Insult Countdown:
1. Donatello says to Leonardo "I owe you one" after Leonardo compliments the job that Donatello does.
2. Raphael says "Banzai" as he charges against the Donatello Clone in the Lair's living room.
3. The Turtles say "Turtle Power" when they come to the rescue at Pinky's lab to save April.
4. Michelangelo says "Holy Guacamole" after he sees that a clone of himself has been created.

Pizza Reference:
Michelangelo tells Donatello that the pizza oven needs serious help as he holds an overcooked pizza to him.

Pop Culture References:
1. When Donatello's Duplicate says "I'm melting!", this references the Wicked Witch of the West's quote from The Wizard of Oz. Another quote from that movie, "Come out, Come Out Wherever You Are" is spoken by Raphael as he asks for Donatello to come to them in his lab.
2. When Splinter warns Donatello about his duplicate, he says to him "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature," which was a famous quote used in a 1970s Chiffon Margarine commercial.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. (See pop cultural reference No. 2) Donatello says "Wasn't that a TV commercial?" in response.
2. As Pinky's thugs grab April, she says to them "I though you two watch cartoons, not the news."
3. After the Rat King laughs to the Turtles, Raphael says "don't you just love rodent humor?"

Wacky Inventions:
1. Donatello's Cloning Device
2. The Turtle Van's Digital Feedback Scanner

Kidnappings:
1. Donatello's Duplicate ties up the original Donatello and throws him in a closet adjacent to the Lab and shuts the door on him.
2. Pinky McFingers' Thugs place a bag and then tie up the Donatello Clone in chains and then carry him away in the sewers. They then take him at Pinky's hideout on top of a mountain.
3. McFinger's thugs gag April, take her to Pinky's lab, and the Donatello Clone locks April up in a prison cell.

Notables:
1. Despite the presence of Pinky McFinger's original voice actor, Peter Renaday present in this episode who voiced him in the episode "Raphael Knocks 'Em Dead", he is alternatively voiced by Cam Clarke, providing him a voice that sounds similar to Rocksteady's, especially of the scene of him in the sewers.
2. Act One ends with two tension music cues on top of each other: the second version of the primary tension theme and the background music first used in Turtle Tracks as the Hamato Yoshi saw the Turtles covered in ooze.
3. When Michelangelo questions if Donatello is the Rat King in the Lab, a pair of his nunchucks are visible in his shell.

3. Michelangelo says "I had to ask" after the First Guard tells him that the ruby's energy will cause the comet to crash into earth.
4. Raphael looks at the screen and says that he feels so much better knowing that the Guards are on his side.
5. Michelangelo says that it's too late to rewrite the script after Raphael doesn't believe in "The Sacred Turt-el".

Wacky Inventions:
1. Percival's Ray Magnifier
2. Donatello's Laser Generator

Kidnapping:
Casbah kidnaps April in the museum and is shown covered and tied up by a rug in his convertible.

Notables:
1. This was the final new episode aired on CBS for this season.
2. Final episode with Michelangelo in its title.
3. Splinter does not appear in this episode.
4. A sign says "Worlds Fair 1955" as Casbah drives off with April, but there was never an actual World's Fair in the real world.
5. A sampling of the Rat King flute theme plays when Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatello return to the Lair and wonder where Michelangelo is.
6. April is dressed in an Egyptian Queen's outfit in this episode.

Peter Renaday: Splinter, Vernon Fenwick, Chrome Dome
Bob Ridgely: Herman the Horrible

Mistakes:
1. The pink portions of the Transport Module were white instead of pink when Shredder and Krang exited it at the monkey house. In addition, the hatch opened downward instead of upwards.
2. After the Turtles exited the pet shop, the design on the back of their shells was drawn differently.
3. The design of April's Turtlecom was different when Rocksteady used it at the zoo compared to its first appearance when it was shown in the street because the ground was different.
4. When Splinter explains to Donatello about how it isn't good to be a non-mutated Turtle, the left three-circled logo is missing on his kimono.

Catchphrase/Insult Countdown:
1. Shredder calls Tattoo a miserable mutant when he fails to reply to him.
2. Shredder calls Rocksteady and Bebop losers when he first talks to him.
3. Shredder calls Bebop a miserable idiot when after he misguides the Module.

9. The Turtles say "Go Green Machine" after Dirtbag and Groundchuck are freed at Shell-Ri-La.
10. The right head of Herman the Horrible calls the Turtles and Kurma miserable turtleoids when it first sees them.
11. Michelangelo says Cowabunga when he rides on top of Groundchuck and says that he wants to be in a rodeo.
12. Leonardo, Raphael, and Michelangelo say Turtle Power as they rescue April from the approaching Technodrome Mark II.
13. As the Technodrome Mark II is being destroyed, Shredder instructs Chrome Dome to "destroy those Turtles."
14. Chrome Dome refers to the Turtles as wretched reptiles after Shredder and Krang escape in the Module.

Pizza References:
1. At the start of the episode, Michelangelo says that he could taste the hot fudge and anchovy pizza now.
2. Vinnie's Pizza billboard next to the Channel 6 building is visible.
3. When Donatello gives up on the Turtles while they are in jail, Michelangelo tells him to think about what he'll be giving up, including pizza.
4. Right before the Turtles leave for Earth, Donatello says that Shell-Ri-La doesn't even have pizza.

Pop Culture References:
1. The name Kurma may have been inspired by Kermit the Frog.
2. Groundchuck calls Shredder a little Buckaroo after the cowboy group.
3. When Raphael first fights Groundchuck near the Channel 6 building, he uses the fencing term Touche.
4. Shell-Ri-La is named after the location Shangri-La from the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by James Hilton.
5. Donatello acknowledges overpaid executives when he discusses the issue about the Turtleoids' Gold Machine, since it makes a case for the unbalance income distribution that is actually a bigger issue today than when this episode first aired.
6. As the Turtles find an escape hatch from the jail cell, Michelangelo launches his grappling hook and says "Up, Up and Away", which is a 1967 song and album by The 5th Dimension.
7. When Herman says "I Shall Return" after his Ray Cannon breaks and flies away, that quotes General Douglas Macarthur when he evacuated the Philippines during WWII.
8. Raphael doesn't refer to Chrome Dome as "Sugar and spice and everything's nice" from the nursery rhyme "What Are Little Boys Made Of?" as the Turtles battle him in the park.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. After Tattoo throws a birdcage on top of Raphael, he says that he thought that this only happens in cartoons.
2. In the Lair, Raphael seeming tells the audience that if Donatello starts singing, he advises to switch over to another channel.
3. When the Turtles suspect guests ripping off their style, Donatello suggests that it might be Copyright Infringement.
4. April says that she has a feeling that this is going to be a long episode while she's watching Shredder and Krang in the Technodrome.
5. Bork at the Shell-Ri-La court says that the TMNT aren't real but that someone just drew them.
6. Raphael says that the devices near the cave are cheap for generating suspense.
7. Michelangelo says "like we didn't do enough fighting in this episode already" when the Turtles discover the Technodrome Mark II.
8. When the Turtles return to the Lair, Raphael says that if you insert a plot about a planet entirely populated with turtles in a movie, you'd never believe it.

Wacky Inventions:
1. Kurma's Spaceship
2. Krang's Heat Ray
3. The Gold Machine
4. Pulverizer Ray Ship
5. The Technodrome Mark II
6. The Mutagen Dispenser
7. Adamantium
8. Shell-Ri-La's Forcedome Generator
9. Shell-Ri-La's Gold Stamping Device
10. Kurma's Zapper
11. Herman's Ray Cannon

Kidnappings:
1. The Turtles, Groundchuck, and Dirtbag all get captured by Kurma and are seen tied with a ring of electricity surrounding their bodies aboard Kurma's Spaceship as he sends them off to Shell-Ri-La before Leonardo frees himself and the other Turtles.
2. Rocksteady and Bebop grab April and take her to the Technodrome where she gets tied up with one of the Technodrome's parts.
3. The Turtleoids send the Turtles to jail after losing the jury at the Shell-Ri-La court house, and are shown behind bars in a cell.
4. April is rekidnaped by Chrome Dome in the Technodrome and is tied up with the same part from the Technodrome to a tree at Median Park.
5. The Turtles kidnap Dirtbag and Groundchuck at Shell-Ri-La.

Notables:
1. First appearances of Dirtbag, Groundchuck, Chrome Dome, and Kerma.
2. This is currently regarded as the final episodes of Season 5. However, it was originally broadcast on August 31, 1991 on CBS for a one-hour primetime special. It remains the only TMNT episode in history ever to debut in primetime. However, given that the Technodrome is already at the North Pole which was established with the episode My Brother, the Bad Guy, it is now regarded as the Season's finale on all episode guides. It is also the only multi-part episode of this series. When it was rerun on USA Network in the mid-1990s and overseas, it was split into two separate episodes, with the words "TO BE CONTINUED..." added after the end first episode which happens right as Herman the Horrible flies near the Turtles and Kurma. It is also the only episode of the series in which the title credit is shown in green text.
3. When it was aired together on primetime and CBS Saturday morning, the opening and closing credit sequence was only shown once. It also features a unique closing credit sequence featuring a shot of a scene of Shell-Ri-La (right when Leonardo says "Turtles would live" while aboard Kurma's Spaceship), and also the closing theme is remixed in a slightly faster, more spirited mix. It is also the final episode to feature the Murakami Wolf Swenson logo.
4. Vernon never pays for his root beer float when he receives hit, and his also isn't told whether he can have it on the house.
5. The Technodrome Mark II inspired Playmates Toys' Technodrome Scout Vehicle when it was released in 1993.
6. This episode never appeared on DVD until the Season 10 set was released, including this as a bonus episode.
7. Rocksteady and Bebop consider the zoo as the same zoo in which they came from, despite being humans before they were mutated. This may seem like a mistake, however in the Archie Comics which was originally based on this series, they both show signs of recalling their animal lives before the mutation.
8. Krang's Bubble Walker is seen in this episode.
9. The only time this season in which Krang travels away from the Technodrome.

This recap is a big milestone for me, marking my 100th episode referenced and also the fact that there are only five short seasons left.

Mistakes:
1. When Splinter first appears, one of the yellow patches on Splinter's kimono on his left is missing. When we zoom out to a shot of both Splinter and Donatello, both of his patches are missing. The left patch is also missing when Splinter walks up to Donatello on the sofa near the end of the episode.
2. When Michelangelo launches his grappling hook to save April and her news van for the moment, he is colored like Donatello.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. After Splinter explains Wu Wei, Michelangelo mentions that its pretty heavy philosophical stuff for a cartoon show.

Wacky Inventions:
1. The Rockolizer

Notables:

2. First episode with the Fred Wolf Films logo.
3. For the rest of the run on CBS, there is only one new episode per week.
4. New background music debuts, and the episode titles change to an italic font, similar to what is shown on the closing credits from Season 4 onwards.
5. First appearance of the Technodrome under the ocean. The Technodrome in the Arctic would resurface in Leonardo is Missing later in this season when the episode aired out of order.

Also, a very heavy anvils falls on a man's foot in a clear view of three people watching him, and nobody noticed it until the victim pointed it out.
8. Why would a magnetic beam aimed at a non-metallic body part of Shredder bowl him over when Super Irma has control over magnetism?
9. It is odd that the Turtles left April and Irma suddenly instead of waiting for them to escort them back to the Lair.
10. In the aftermath of the dynamite blast, the safe door is not in a logical place, where the impact would have logically happened inside the safe. Also, after the Turtles get hit by the blast, they are simply dazed when they get away.

2. When Shredder enters the Japanese Embassy, he removes the grate, but it is then seen back on the wall when he jumps to the ground.
3. LeDrone apparently smashed the surveillance camera with his fist, but the video footage of his stealing the sword shows him using a blast from his power ring.
4. Tall mountains appear behind the city when we see a shot of the suspension bridge, which is out of place based on the real New York City.
5. Rocksteady's eyes are white instead of yellow when he, Bebop, and Shredder appear on the portal screen when Krang asks for the explosives.

3. Vinnie's Pizza's billboard next to the Channel 6 building is visible.
4. When Splinter instructs the Turtles to return the sword to the embassy, Donatello says that they won't stop for pizza. Raphael then pitches in and says "unless if its a really great pizza", and Michelangelo mentions if the pizza contained guacamole and marshmallow toppings.

Pop Culture References:
1. Yurikawa is also the name of Saki Yurikawa, who is a serial killer from the manga Reiko the Zombie Shop.

Fourth Wall Breaking Humor:
1. After Shredder tells Krang that he doesn't have any hands, Krang responds with "You never miss a show, do you."

2. The Turtles get tied up when LeDrone fires the ball and chain from his Armored Tank. They then get tied up in ropes by Bebop and Rocksteady atop the suspension bridge.

Notables:
1. The sword is similar to The Sword of Tengu from the 2003 series.
2. The Japanese Embassy in the US is actually located in Washington, DC, not New York like it appears in this episode.
3. A sign refers to the suspension bridge as the "Tri State Bridge". No such bridge exists in NYC, but it may be in reference to the Triborough Bridge.

2. Slash's intelligence appears to lower than he was in Slash: The Evil Turtle from Dimension X.
3. Shredder is mentioned by Raphael when describing the Pizza Slicer but does not appear in this episode.
4. Final episode with Donatello in its title.
