Saw this posted on the 2016 Movie Toys thread that I found interesting, Credit goes to EddieNES for noticing this.

If you look carefully, you will see a narrow opening on the body's chest, I think it's where Krang's spinal cord possibly attaches.

Yes, he was. That's literally his f*cking origin. He was a war-lord who for his crimes against the universe was made into a horrible version of his former self, a disembodied anthropomorphic brain. Him being an Utrom is a new thing brought on by IDW, & we have no reason to believe he is a member of that species in this series yet.

I am glad to see Bay/Playmates sticking to the OT concept with Krang..
It will be entertaining to see how he is worked into the plot.

Fixed that for you. When they stick up with the OT then he is called Krang, not Kraang, like the race in the nick version.

I dunno, if it was spelled that way from the start, was it technically really "wrong" then prior to someone deciding that it was?

Some people have unusual name spellings, they could have just left Mikey as one of them and kept the spelling he was 'born' with.

Think Nick's Kraang name change has confused the film people though. lol

Mikey is named after the painter Michelangelo. However, when Eastman and Laird did the original comic, they accidentally spelled it Michaelangelo. The mistake went unnoticed for years until eventually it was corrected. Now the comics, cartoons, and movies use the correct spelling.

Wow bebop reminds me of birdie from SFV. They must have not watched the cartoon right. If anything, rocksteady was the one with the gut, not bebop.
