SDCC 2019 - TMNT: The Road to 100
I suck at waiting, so I decided to get the ball rolling on the discussion of today's IDW TMNT panel at SDCC. Here's the info:

I think they might tease some big event that'll lead into the end of #98, which will be when Splinter dies. Which is the issue I predicted he was gonna die in. Not #96, nuh uh, you guys are imagining things.
But no, for real, I imagine they'll reveal the covers of the upcoming issues, some plot details of Act 2 of the arc and perhaps a tease on where the story of Shredder in Hell might be going. |

Yeah, I imagine we'll get some covers and some of them were being kept secret because of Jennika.
If Splinter does die in this arc, it has to be between #96 and #98. Bobby told us which issues comprise the second act of City at War, and the second act is typically when a story reaches its lowest point for the protagonists, so... |

Stealth cancellations seem to be the rage this year. Ends at issue 98.

Have they said concretely what they’re doing numbering wise after #100?

If Splinter doesn't end up dying in #98, y'all can double ban me. |

So, three new covers: Splinter behind bars (#99), Hob and the Mutanimals (with Raph) in front of news cameras (#98?), and Clan Hamato and their allies poised for battle (#100?).

Arcs could be anywhere from 4 issues to 7 issues or whatever. I expect a "breather" story after issue 100.

Don’t know about Sophie taking over the writing. Her one shots have been good (Alopex micro and Leonardo macro) but her arcs are left to be desired.

A World Tour arc done by Campbell would be a dream come true. Utter perfection! I mean, after you save the city from a rogue ninja clan, a racist midget, a glorified toaster, a scheming businessman, a couple of immortals, a literal Prada-wearing devil and who knows what else, you sorta deserve a vacation...
Also, is it me or does that arcing thing in the background of the #100(?) cover look like a scorpion's tail? Is Clan Hamato surrounded? By Null's minions? Huh... We need higher-res versions of those pics ASAP! And how come there's been no mention of Bebop and Rocksteady in all of this? What could they be doing? |

I'm not a big fan of the Leonardo macro or Karai's Path, but I really liked the Northampton arc and the Alopex micro, so right now she's 50/50 for me.

If Splinter does indeed die during City at War, I think Sophie doing an arc with each of the Turtles and others dealing with his passing and their grief/guilt associated with it would be amazing

Cover for #100, cropped and color corrected:
Yeah, that's totally Zodi in the background. Even with the low res (sorry about that) you can make out the shape of her head along with the tail. Jennika's absence is intriguing... Also notice "The End" under the title. Further proof that it's #100. |
