And now we have the trailer. It appears that what Burton is trying to do is not to entirely remake the original, but take the most well-known parts of the story and add plenty of new things. My best friend is looking forward to seeing this and I think this might serve as a good night out or a nice afternoon at the theater.

Disney had Michael Keaton narrate a Dumbo inspired advertisement for MagicOfStorytelling.com. A couple of years ago, Emma Watson also did one of these for Beauty and the Beast.

Just like what they did with 2014's Maleficent and 2015's Cinderella, Disney will be playing one the original film's iconic songs during the credits. Arcade Fire is singing a new rendition of "Baby Mine". A sample of it debuted with this teaser.

Also, here's a behind-the-scenes look at the film.

I just don't think it was the best idea to hire Ehren Kruger (Transformers 2-4) to pen the script for this film. However, if Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent were able to bring in big bucks despite mixed reviews, then it's possible that this film could do the same.

See this movie in IMAX was cool because I did feel like I was in that circus world, but the film was overall just okay. Some moments were sort of able to be touching like the original's, but I just didn't find the human characters all that interesting. For some reason, the girl playing the daughter of Colin Farell's character felt like she was trying too much to be like younger version of Mia Wasikowska's Alice from Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

Spoiler:
The first half of the film is the original story but with human characters added and then the second half is what a sequel to it could've been like. Mrs. Jumbo's separation from Dumbo might've been even more difficult in this one because she is sold away not long after being declared a mad elephant. She ends up at the amusement park owned by Michael Keaton's character. In the end, the circus performers set her and Dumbo free and the two of them get to live in the jungle together. Dumbo does get to be a hero before that though by rescuing Holt and his kids.

Much has already been written about what a ballsy move it was to make this a story about a Big Corporate Giant swallowing up a smaller company and being total dicks about it, right on the heels of the Disney/Fox merger.

Very slick.

The final totals for the weekend have been released and the film made just under $46 million. That actually puts it just ahead of the $45.7 million debut for Batman Returns, which was also directed by Tim Burton and starred Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito.

https://www.boxofficemojo.com/weeken...wknd=13&p=.htm

Variety wrote an article about why the film didn't make a gigantic amount of money during its debut weekend.

There's a chance that it could perform similarly to Mary Poppins Returns, which got off to a slow start but had some strong legs.

Ouch, the film dropped 60% in its second weekend. It's apparently going to be difficult for this movie to become profitable.
