Well, the human designs in both ParaNorman and Mutant Mayhem are oddly misshapen (for example, one of Norman’s eyes is bigger than the other and his nose is crooked just like April’s) and very ugly. I’d say they’re very similar.

So Mutant Mayhem was going to originally be similar to the Christopher Nolan Batman movies:

I would have been interested to see that tbh

There's a possibility in the sequel that the Shredder might be an alien, I hope they keep him human. That's the one thing that bothered me about the 2003 show was the Shredder being an Utrom even though I still love the show.

I still had a lot of fun with it, and it's still my fourth favorite TMNT theatrically released film just right after the original '90s live-action trilogy. I just don't think anything will be able to top those for me.

SAME! I'll never forget watching that episode with my late brother and both of us being super disappointed when that reveal happened.

Alien? He's just the warrior henchman of Cynthia Utrom then, isn't he. Bet the alien part is true, seeing how a human Shredder has no reason to have any beef with the Turtles or Splinter in this one.

Sorry to hear about your brother. The Utrom Shredder coming out of the armour for the first time he just didn't seem as threatening. I still do think he's a good villain though, just think it looks better when he's hidden inside the armour At least there was a real human Oroku Saki in season 5, so at least we know that Oroku Saki isn't some fake identity the Utrom Shredder made up.

Now I just feel robbed. Even a Christopher Nolan-ESQUE ripoff would've been far better to me than MM, which the more I think about, the more I dislike it.

And yeah at this point, that's Shredder in name only, cause I'm sure he's gonna be Cynthia's lap dog Frankenstein monster.
I honestly don't care if he's an alien, not having any backstory with Splinter automatically makes me NOT care about Shredder whatsoever.

I don't know if Inside the Magic is a credible source. Furthermore, aren't the writers for this film known for writing comedy? And with Seth Rogen, I'm not convinced this is true.

You're probably right. I wish they'd make another Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie I really want to see more of Joker Shredder.

They are quoting an interview the director did for the Hollywood Reporter they aren't just making this up.

Well I don't follow Inside the Magic that much to know when they post something that's true, so I'll take your word for it. Usually they don't however.

It doesn't matter because the final product is what it is.

Also the actual quote from the director was more hinting at using Shredder in the sequel movie in a similar way to how The Dark Knight featured the Joker.

Just watched this.

Best tmnt movie ever made in my opinion. Superfly was so awesome as a villain and the turtles/Splinter/April were all great too.

Shredder could've done more than blow up the Channel Six building. I don't mean as far as murdering Splinter, but think of the possibilities if censors were not an issue.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

I remember loving it when it happened and I still love it. It was definitely a bold choice, but that's part of the reason why I love it. You can only see the same origin over and over again without it becoming dull. IDW pulled this off best, though...super nostalgic but also new and exciting!

It's a personal bias but I do prefer animation to live action, and MM had a tone/story which couldn't really be told through live action like 1990.

When I see a tmnt film, I want to see lots of different monsters and unique visual/stylistic choices. MM delivers strongly on both.

Huh, kind of expected the show to just reuse the models and sets from the movie, but now that I think about it I'm pretty sure I heard it was going to be 2D before, so I'm not sure why I expected that. Anyway, maybe time to have a thread about the show?

Rise 2.0
And we are back to this being repurposed from Rise assets, which I remember pointing out, was hotly resisted and then the data came out that is what studios do.

Rise sucked, failed and they rebuilt the assets into this, movie first.

This has no connection to “Rise…”.
