Maybe The First Order learned from the past mistakes, and not have the main reactor out in the open this time, this new Death Star probably have something that will prevent anyone from trying to blow it up.

The only way it would possibly work for me is that if things are flipped... i.e., the New Republic built that Death Star just in case.

That's got to just be some random toy packaging stuff right? Right? Surely they wouldn't do another Death Star? Right?

I doubt it, since the New Republic, if i remember from The Force Awakens, got blowed up.

By the end of this new trilogy, we can expect a New New Republic.

That Death Star is obviously just a promo image from the A New Hope model.

But... BUT.... it's possible there's a new Death Star in "Last Jedi" and Disney just hasn't prepared any art for it for the box designer to use, so a placeholder is there instead.

Just its capital of Honshi or whatever. No one particularly even seemed to mind. Presumably there is still government on Coruscant.

What will be weird in 8 is if the Resistance still calls itself the Resistance. Why would they? I thought the reason for it was to allow some deniability for the pacifist New Republic against any First Order incursions, which the New Republic believed would never come. Now that the First Order has blown up whole New Republic worlds... what possible reason would the New Republic have to not go full throttle and embrace the Resistance as itself?

So there really is a new Death Star in 8.

No words.

If this is really true, the fanbase will definitely be calling the Mouse out on it. I don't want to jump to conclusions but none of the trailer material so far suggests anything dynamic or mindblowing coming out of this film.

It's just stock art. Nothing to worry about.

No it's not. That is a new background and that is Kylo's new TIE Fighter in the foreground.

It's stock art. They needed something "imperial" for the box and decided to slap a Death Star. It's no different than Hasbro making a vehicle that isn't in the film and putting Jakku's surface on the package. I will bet you real money that the DS isn't in this.

There's a f*cking old school TIE in the background, for f*cks sake.

I'm not a graphic designer but I feel like it'd be weird to put an object of that size on the cover and just have it be temporary decoration.

No, that's a TFA era TIE.

First deny it's a death star. Once it's revealed it is "yes it's a death star but they totally made it work because"
A) It's only logical that since the time of ANH that they can now be produced easily
B) It's only logical after ROTJ they would make another death star, no TFA one is not a death star
C) They need to have a death star to re-establish the faith of the franchise because of what the prequels did

I always thought the idea of a Death Star III would be awesome as a kid and still do, you know to bring it back one day in the future, not in the first film in the new trilogy which they ruined since it felt so slapped on and tackier "this time it's an entire moving planet and not needed at all. How do they even bring it back after having a "better than a death star" Death Star in EpVII and the previous Spin-Off film being a Death Star movie.

Even Han Solo jokes about bringing back the death star in EpVII, that's the only reason I'm thinking it simply cannot be real Star Wars has already lost a lot of blind support from the release of EpVII till now. But isn't this the second packaging that has the Death Star? IIRC the first one was from some type of lego set and the excuse then was "of course it's there since they make merchandise of everything not just the new movie"

it would not surprise me in the least if it was real. and they used bb8 on the toy to fake us out.

all disney star wars seems able to do is do call backs to episode 4 or lead ups to episode 4. they've done nothing new original since.

We get a close of the actual Supreme Leader Snoke in a trading card for the upcoming The Last Jedi.
