Yeahhh no, this film feels like it can take place in the 2k3 universe vs the 2k12 one. As for the film, while I liked it there was a few problems with it like how it feels like we are in the middle of a saga instead of the first and the Nightwatcher thing(seriously whats wrong with Raph fighting solo it felt like the writers just wanted a Leo/Raph conflict just for the hell of it)

I'm gonna have to be a party pooper and say "Meh." Never been too impressed with that one. The writing itself is decent, though the story... eh. And the designs always felt bland to me; probably partly the fact of what 3D animation was already capable of at that time, it just looks rather behind the times to me. (Better texture work might have helped.) Though the actual animating is nice. Then there is the, as someone mentioned, fight for the sake of having it, and making my boy into some jerk for not much reason other than doing so...but that debate has been had enough in the past.
At least PD Leo had his legit reasons for being Mr. Grumpy 'Struggling-with-a-Feeling-of-Disappointment-Failure-and-Loss-of-Control' Pants, I have to give him that. (2007 version Leo just seemed mad that someone was trying to play hero on his 'turf,' and since when do any of them act like that.) Last edited by IndigoErth; 01-16-2017 at 11:40 AM. |

I liked the 2007 film when it came out, but recently when I re-watched, honestly, I didn't think it was any good.
It has moments of heart. When it dwells on the family, that's when it works best. But everything else just isn't very good. The dialogue is bad and at times downright tacky (the dialogue towards the end hinting at Shredder) and lazy ("the ghost of the jungle!"). Also, last time I watched it, many scenes, particularly the action scene with the P.O.D., feel like "Let's Play" videos. |

What Gatchaman fiasco?
I was really looking forward to that movie but it kept getting delayed afaik for no real reason besides money and shortly after Astro Boy bombed they closed shop not long after. I liked Imagi's CG, the writing in their movies definitely needed an improvement. |

I wouldn't necessarily say we've yet to hit rock bottom with the Ninja Turtles. I've seen horrible fan films on YouTube that make the Michael Bay films look like masterpieces.

How unfair is that? Comparing shorts that regular fans made in their free time to multimillion dollar major studio productions? Jesus dude. |

Parody or not, it's still a fan film... and a really bad one at that.

Then again that 35 minute Casey Jones short film was colossal better than the PD films

Oh yea, now that's a good fan film! It stays true to the mythos and they even hired friggin Robbie Rist to reprise his role as the voice of Michelangelo!!!

Ah, the 2007 cgi movie. That's an interesting one.
There are elements I love in this movie, so I don't think I could find myself hating it ever. But I won't deny there are sooooo many problems in it, in terms of writing. I think this was a fun experiment movie-wise. You don't see animated action movies often. And if we could get another cgi turtles movie, I would be down for it. But not for a sequel for 07 universe. I don't feel it had enough potential for a sequel. |

The 2007 movie is gorgeous to look at, but that's about it for me. The characters are paper-thin, Donnie and Mikey are completely wasted and the story was just too stupid (I know that's odd to say about a TMNT movie, but still). If it did get sequels, I'd hope that they'd have had a story that was actually good and fleshed out the characters some more.
