I haven't been keeping up with much, honestly. Buying comics takes me far out of my way to the nearest shop, and I can't buy too much anyway due to the budget, so I don't really keep up with what's going on. They really lost me with New 52, and I'm aware that they're slowly trying to "fix" everything, but it's still not the "real" DCU from 1986-2010 so I'm less inclined to care. My main focus when I do shop, is just picking up a handful of books and filling in the gaps from that the era when I actually cared. Sh*t's too expensive now.
The last few times I went, I picked up Doomsday Clock and some of Bendis's new Superman run. Bendis's stuff is... okay. People are right about his dialog; that guy has never heard anyone have an actual conversation. Oof. Zarius: The most recent issue I picked up of Doomsday Clock was the Marionette/Mime origin issue. So I'm a little behind. I did feel a little bit lied to, when they kept touting in the previews that Superman was the centerpiece of the whole thing, but I'm used to being lied to by the people presenting my fiction so I kinda let that go so I could enjoy the story they're actually telling. Which has been really, really good.

I'm barely holding on to DC at the moment. Poor Wonder Woman's had about 4040450 different writers since the Rebirth phase began, hers is the least stable of the trinity creatively.
Like Leo said, Bendis is OK and his Superman books at least have different flavors to them despite having the same voice, but I do miss the Super-Family. Fortunately we still have Adventures of the Super-Sons filling the void. I've dropped Batman completely and have no interest in Catwoman. King really dropped the ball with the Bat-Wedding and both have come out in worse shape than before. Williamson's Flash is pretty good, and Abnett is still delivering a solid Aquaman. |

Only like three people in all of recorded history were any good at writing Wonder Woman, and they all appeared between 1986 and 2005. She's had such a lousy run. Real shame.

Between changing Dick's name and changing Superman's costume to not have trunks, DC sure makes a lot of creative decisions based on jokes made by grade-school children, or those with the mentality thereof. It makes them look incredibly insecure.
At least they finally caved in and brought Superman's proper costume back.

I didn't mean to go on a whole in-depth history on Bronze Age Batman,Leo656. I just spent more time than I sholud about Dick Grayson's transition from Robin to Nightwing, what should have been done with Jason Todd, and own several runs in that era. Its a nerd passion area so sorry about that. This whole thing with Dick, Wally, and others is making me think of a new thread, should protegees surpass their mentor? Should characters age after a certain point? Hmmm...

I hate the guy the way Andrew hates Geoff Johns and Zarius hates Dan Slott. Its because my favorite characters are known to be hated by Didio (Dick, Barbara, Wally) and my brothers' as well, Beetle and Booster. If something stupid is done by DC I automatically think, "That is Dan's stupid idea that should have never left his brain. Why allow the fool to continue?".

Still a fvcking terrible decision. So, M&R... would you rather have Jason Todd still dead, or Dick Grayson not deal with this BS storyline?

Y'know what would be great, and easier?
If they just said everything since 2008 never happened and didn't count. Call it some kind of ripple effect fallout from Final Crisis or something, whatever. Just pick up right from the end of Blackest Night and just carry on from there. Nothing since "Brightest Day" has been good for much. New 52 was dreadful, but trying to soft-reboot some of it and "merge" what's left with the "Real" DCU is too clumsy, from what I've seen. It's good that they realized their mistake - I never even thought they'd go so far as they have to course-correct - but truthfully, it would be a lot better for everyone if they just scrapped the entire last ten years and that was that. Things had been pretty good for a long while, up until "Brightest Day" fumbled. I'd gladly trade everything since for what we already had before.
