Thumbs up

It is now an "if" if it will happen, not a "when":

That's progress, at least.

The past is dead. BURY IT. That was a quote, right?

I personally can't wait to see what kind of character assassi-... I mean, "subversion of expectations" the guy would have in store for future Star Wars films.

First movie: Reveals that Obi-Wan was secretly a serial rapist who preyed upon teenage boys, thus why he kept such a close eye on Luke all those years.

Second movie: Reveals that Chewbacca's growls were actually all a non-stop stream of sexist and racial slurs, and that nobody else actually ever understood what he was saying, anyway, it was all a big joke.

Third movie: "The Force" is all just a mass hallucination caused by the "Magic Fairy Dust" everyone found in Carrie Fisher's purse. No Jedi, no Sith, everyone's just acting out a coked-out fantasy play while swinging laser swords at each other, resulting in millions of people regrettably being killed when people forget that it's all for yuks and actually start shooting at each other in spaceships, blowing up planets and sh*t.

Y'know. "Creative subversion of expectations" like that. Brilliant idea stuff, not at all pulled straight from the ass or anything.

I waited my whole life to see Luke again. And Rian Johnson took the biggest dump I've ever seen right on top the whole experience.

It should illegal for that man to be near any means of communication eve again.

Yeah, I agree, but we're stupid rubes.

It was "new, different, and unexpected"... Therefore brilliant!

These kinds of arbitrary changes to established characters don't need to be justified in any satisfactory way... It's enough that it's not "the same old thing", because that would be boring and predictable and so on.

Sure, one of the most popular heroic characters of the latter half of the 20th century was reduced to a whiny, crusty old hermit simply so he could play second fiddle to Ma-Rey Sue... But you got to see him for a few minutes, so what are you crying about? Be glad you got anything!

In all seriousness, no matter what happens next, I will never forgive them for botching something that should have been so easy. You go out and get the original cast together for One Last Round, and proceed to use them in the absolute worst ways possible. And there's no do-over on this, that's what makes it even worse. It's not like, "Yeah, we know we botched killing off Jamie Lee Curtis in the original Halloween series, but it's been 20 years so now let's try again and do it better." You don't get that kind of second chance often, if ever.

Thousands, if not millions of people have written their own story about what would happen if the original Star Wars characters got together one last time, and just about any lunatic fanfic ideas one could think of would still be infinitely more satisfying than what made it into the "official" film series.

Tragic. McMahon-like levels of taking something simple that could and should be great, and completely f*cking it to death, before hate-f*cking the corpse.

That's fair.

Well said.

I'd be fine with Rian Johnson's trilogy. Because then there'd be another shot at bankrupting that roundheaded, agenda driven SOB hopefully through people just not going to his movies. Sometimes I wonder if "Knive's Out" will see missed ticket sales from remaining ill-will from TLJ.

I've been truly pissed off or offended (a term I use very rarely nowadays) by a movie only twice in my entire life. Iron Man 3 and The Last Jedi. His (and Disney's) agenda isn't even cleverly disguised in the movie. "...the past. Kill it if you have to". Its not dialog, it's a manifesto.

I find it difficult to believe that Disney won't release a Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan movie (which fans were frothing at the butthole for), instead opting for streaming.

Yet they'll blow millions on more movies from the this guy.

It's not going to happen. His just trying to get his name out there in the lead up to Glass Onions a Knives Out story blah blah blah part 2. Which, (yep, checks watch) comes out in 10 days.

I wouldn't say that remotely. "Idly curious at what an Obi-Wan movie would be"... maybe? And after being burned by so much... not really that badly? Any itchings for new Star Wars movies post-TRoS... I don't believe it.

And now. Meh. Not a great show. There might have been a decent movie in there. About 2 hours of semi-quality is all that exists there for sure.

People were definitely insanely hot for a potential Obi-Wan movie back in like 2008 or so, and that's when it definitely should have happened.

Just like how we could've actually been on Indiana Jones 10 right now instead of Indy 4.
