What year do you think they'll release their re-do of Apocalypse?

You can't do Phoenix without the shi'ar empire the StarJammers the emcron crystal and the hellfire club.

Its sad when the 1992 X-men Cartoon came closest with doing the Phoenix saga Justice

What was trollish about that post? It's consensus that X-3 is terrible and handled the Phoenix story appallingly.

The X-Men's animated adaptation was good, hell I consider it superior to the comic version.

So, so, stupid. If anything, they could have eventually looped around to a Dark Phoenix redux in a couple of movies... but we just met Jean. We, like, JUST met her. And barely even got to know her. Now it's time to go evil and super-powered?

And I'm assuming it'll be again super low-key. No space, no aliens, no nothing. It'll just get more attention than in X3.

Honestly... a big waste of time. Logan should have ended the franchise and kinda/sorta let Deadpool start a new one. I mean, Logan IS the end of everything. Nothing that happens in this movie will change their eventual fate in Logan. I mean at least Days of Future Past changed the previous movies, giving us an excuse to watch more movies with this new altered timeline continuity.... but this? Just why?

Unless they somehow make Jean enter a wormhole and kill Xavier before he had his first lethal seizure in old age, nothing that happens in this movie will matter. No matter how it ends, no matter how they defeat/kill Jean and end the movie with smiles and some sort of victory tune playing in the background.... it doesn't change their fate as implied in Logan.

I've given up on trying to make sense of the X-Men film continuity. The producers have as well. There's no reason to try to hold Fox accountable for any sort of chronology; Logan didn't even seem to take place after DoFP. At this point I just view the X-films as stories that pick and choose whatever characters they want, without any strict timeline tethering them.

As I say in x-men threads discussing continuity; The film universe has adapted perfectly the clusterf-ck continuity it has. But for those "Logan already explains how it ends", well Batman Beyond didn't make us enjoy JLU any less, now did it?

They've already gone full sci-fi with dofp and apocalypse so I think it's not out of the question to have the sh'iar empire. I don't think it'll be a great adaptation but it should be done better than X3.

Anywho I don't see all three movies happening in the same year, Deadpool II wont move but I'm guessing New Mutants and/or Phoenix won't be released the same year. Too much X-Men. Gambit, Origins Magneto were also stated to come out, heck even the sequel to first class was originally going to be different before it became dofp.

It looks like Rogue might be recast based on these audition tapes for X-Men: Dark Phoenix

The Phoenix Saga ruined the cartoon for me. I was young, but good grief did it bore me to death. Didn't follow the show after that. My dad felt the same way. That was a show we watched together. I'm way more into comics, as an adult, but I haven't gone back to read that stuff yet. As it stands, I'd like to see as little Phoenix as possible. I thought X3 was great, despite it, though. I'm more interested in New Mutants.

You're kind of better off not reading the X-Comics after Joss Whedon left, they kind of went to s*it. They're only recovering a bit now.

I meant I never went back to read the Phoenix stuff. I've been reading X-Men books for a few years, now. Basically from when they brought the past X-Men to the present. I'm into it, but I haven't read anything Whedon to compare.

The 05 has litterally the worst version of Jean ever.

No, the worst version of Jean was Madeline. Pointless and blatantly "evil manipulative b**ch" just 'cause. And dug her hooks into Scott just to lead him by the nose.

Poor Claremont never forgave Shooter for almost all of that.

The main villain of X-Men: Dark Phoenix has just been cast. See here:

http://www.cosmicbooknews.com/michae...n-dark-phoenix

Should they really be developing this movie this far without even 100% securing a director yet?

I feel like the X-Men franchise more often than not is like a careening bus that sometimes arrives at its destination (Days of Future Past) and other times explodes and falls off a cliff (Apocalypse, and probably this).

I laughed.

Seriously though. Can we please get an X-Men movie without Magneto?

Fassbender's a great actor but I feel like he's wasting his time with these films - Apocalypse especially.
