I fully expect Vol. 4 trades after Image trades finish, given that won't be till 2020 though hopefully PL will finish the series by then.
If not, then oh well. PL is going to be in his late 60's soon, if he doesn't finish it by the time he's 70 I give up. |

More like a few years after Volume 3 is reprinted by IDW. Maybe. Bobby sounds much more "respectfully hands off" for Volume 4, given that it was Laird's pet project AND that he never finished it (and could conceivably return to do so)...

Comixology?
Digital comics are weak. I don't want to get into a fight about it, but as I've stated in other threads in the past... digital comics really take away so much from the purpose of a comic book. Each to his own. I'll never ever ever ever ever buy a digital comic. Ever. Ever... (I know... dramatic right.. I just really hate digital comics) Anyways... I'm excited as hell about Bodycount. Not a huge fan of the new cover, but it's cool. I like it I guess. I'll be getting this HC when it drops for sure. Will be nice to have! Very pleased with the harder edged TMNT stuff getting some love... just took them what???... 5 years? |

I don't buy digital.
Some things are just meant to be held in your hands, but like I said... each to his own device. If it supports the comic directly and you get off on not hold it in your hands. Go for it! |

So I've read the IDW reprint. I think this sums it up fairly well.

Hopefully Peter Laird will finish Vol. 4 soon. Jim Lawson has said whenever he meets Peter at times he's always asked if he'll come back on Vol. 4. Jim always says yes. A matter of time I hope.

I suppose as long as he sporadically makes con appearances and sketching, he still has some sort of remote interest... But that's a long way from firing up a full book.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is easily the most reprinted trade of anything Mirage, ever. And that seems very strange to me.

Maybe that's the reason Mirage got the reputation of being hyper violent? The most hyper violent version getting so many reprints? Aside from having adaptations that aren't even remotely violent I mean.

Could be. And yet it's so far removed from Mirage. "Bodycount" is like this small oddity that started to be printed at Mirage, got dumped, then later on salvaged and reprinted/continued to be printed at Image for the last 3 issues. Yet... they just keep reprinting it. Over and over again.

It's especially odd when you consider that it's not even that good. Simon Bisley's art is always interesting to look at but that's about as much praise as I can give it. The actual story of Midnight being escorted by Raph and Casey, while avoiding Johnny Woo's assassination attempts, isn't exactly complicated in theory. Which makes it astonishing that I can barely tell what's going on. It's basically just too many characters getting involved in mindless shoot-outs.
I kind of hate to admit it, since I like his ideas and art, but Kevin Eastman is an awful script writer. I haven't read a single solo scripted comic of his I felt was well written. Without someone like Peter Laird or Tom Waltz doing the actual writing for him, he just churns out nonsense scripts. |
