Which brings me to wonder, what kind of wonderland were those advertisers in where they thought 8 year olds would be trying to convince other 8 year olds to do drugs?
Look, the kids in the "I'm not a chicken, you're a turkey" ad must at least be nine and ten.

And there was the "Mr. T gets mad in a diner" one where he was raging about "little kids" doing drugs, and I'm just ???

Hey, gotta start telling them young before they run into those situations.

Although I only ever remember thinking those ads, the old D.A.R.E. program etc was just common sense... But I guess some kids weren't coming from homes that did the job themselves.

This makes me laugh though. Was the "yes to pizza" part a thing years ago or is that a modern addition?

Because if it was around in the 80s/90s... Well, Turtles, well done on helping try to decrease drug use, but the average pant size and cholesterol levels, not so much. lol

I should have put "vaping" on the list. A ton of people are doing that these days. For me, very unsatisfying.

I don't smoke and I don't really drink. I mean I'll have wine in social situations or if my significant other is drinking so she doesn't feel alone but I'm just happier with a glass of milk or tap water. If you like it, awesome! To each his own as long as it doesn't affect me i.e. your smoke is on my way or you're a bad drunk. Live and let die.

The funny thing is, much like abstinence-only education, D.A.R.E has not been very effective in deterring people from drugs. Especially in the face of Marijuana being found to be more of a miracle plant than "a violent narcotic - an unspeakable scourge - The Real Public Enemy Number One!"

As much as I enjoy some beers, I don't really care if some people don't drink at all. They're not missing out on much, really. It's not like they dislike ice cream or chicken. Now that would be weird.

It deterred me. ^^ The idea of going to prison and not being able to play outside or watch Saturday morning cartoons was enough for me. lol

If by hamburger you mean McDonald's and Burger King's stuff then you're better off without that. I, too, count one one hand the amount of times I've had McD's in the last 10-15 years.

Homemade burgers and regular restaurants make much better ones.
