Anyone know the brand or name of this old TMNT art collectible?

For years I have been trying to look for these old scratch off art items from the late 1980s or early 1990s. It featured old TMNT toon art that was black and white.

Inside the package was a clear plastic page with all of the colored body parts for the blank black and white picture. You would then line up the colored art pieces from the plastic page onto the blank black and white picture and scratch the colored pieces onto the black and white picture so that it eventually ended up all colored.

Does this sound familiar to anyone at all? Does anybody have a brand name for these old art kids or something that I could use to track a complete set down? They were small and usually found in the toy aisle at supermarkets and places like that. They are not valuable. They just hold a lot of sentimental value to me.

Sounds like a Colorforms set. I know they did two TMNT sets.

Don't think I'm familiar with it, but now I'm curious and hunting around online. If I read that right, it sounds like the colored pieces transfer color onto the picture? In that case it wouldn't be Colorforms...

Was it similar to trace plates?

But it also sounds like Presto Magix, though those were all color and there wasn't ever a TMNT version as far as I know.

Definitely was not Colorforms or trace plates. You had to use a little stick that was included to scratch the green arm off of the plastic piece onto the black and white turtle. You then did this with each corresponding body part until it was fully colored. The whole thing was about the size of a large index card and hung on a peg in store aisles.

That sounds a lot like Presto Magix, but maybe it was a different brand.

I tried looking for Presto Magic TMNT in-line but nothing came up. Not sure if that is it. It was not a whole scene that you would fill-in the colors with the scratch off stick, it was only a character drawing.

Man, we may as well dedicate a thread to weird TMNT licensed stuff we used to have. I'm sort of on the lookout for this tiny little ninja turtle that could launch a pinball from his stomach.

I just think it's pretty damn neat that after like two years and several more before, someone finally got an answer to their question. That's pretty life-affirming stuff when that happens.
