Blind Franchise™ loyalty is a thing that still puzzles me. Am I alone on this?

Blind loyalty baffles me. There are aspects of this franchise I'm not excited about. I mean they aren't bad but they aren't my favorites. I can't start promoting the show as being the next best thing tell I've seen it. I think it will be good based off of what we have seen so far, but that is just trailers.

Other than the micros, the main series generally always hovers around the 18,000-19,000+ sales mark.
I think Bobby once said they'd be fine even if the sales dipped all the way down to 12,000...so we're still in clear waters. |

Updated first post. Looks like the book has taken a small hit since Kuhn started drawing, nothing crazy though. Looks like pretty strong sales for the Annual, too, even despite the price tag... good to see.

Glad to see the sales staying steady I am not shocked they dropped, bc of the holiday, I am betting the following months will drop as well.

- Change in artwork. The switch to Kuhn's art may have turned casuals off. - People only stuck with the series for the first year. After they saw the Turtles defeat Shredder in issue #12, they felt like they got "closure" and felt it was a good dropping off point. - Expenses on other comics or entertainment media like videogames, etc. They may pick up the issues they miss from comic shops or ebay which won't count toward the total sales That being said the series is probably going for a full second year, hopefully we can get a third. I'm hoping we get at least 50 issues out of the main run, along with the numerous micros and minis we could get nearly 100 issues out of everything combined. |

#17 sold 16,703 copies and ranked 119 for December.
Only IDW books selling better are My Little Pony (which is very early in its run), and Star Trek/Dr. Who (which is pulling from two fandoms). Last edited by ToTheNines; 01-14-2013 at 08:54 PM. |

How bad do the sales have to get before the comic is cancelled and also with the movie coming out as well as the cartoon being an apparent success thus far could this boost IDW sales?????

Not saying this is IDW's universal process for low selling books, but it's an example. Hell, looking closer at the sales report there's a few GI Joe books selling worse than Ghostbusters and they're on issue #20. As far as a boost, I had expected one when the Nicktoon came out but I guess that's jived with a mostly younger crowd. And I hate to rag on the guy so much, but it probably didn't help that Kuhn was the artist of the ongoing last Fall when the show premiered. |

I think it mainly depends on what percentage of the profits of the book go to Nick after IDW.
Remember Nick has to make a profit off the comics too for them to continue going, so whatever money IDW makes a percentage of those sales always go to Nick. If both parties aren't pulling a profit then changes will either be made or the series will end. |

The full sales report isn't out yet, but according to Diamond, Secret History of the Foot Clan #1 was IDW's best seller of January (suck it, My Little Pony! ), ranking 108th overall.

That can't even be remotely true. It was behind the ongoing book by a couple thousand, and there were other IDW books ahead of that. (Also, My Little Pony missed the month due to shipping snafu! )

Hopefully the micros/mini-series continue to sell enough so IDW continues them after the villain micros.
They really help the pacing with the main on-going to have two TMNT comics going on at almost the same time. |

So even though Bobby says they're wonky, here's the numbers for January.
108. Foot Clan #1 - 18,315 147. Foot Clan #2 - 13,180 http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomi...3/2013-01.html |

I'm not sure I follow. Foot #1 was supposed to be December yet here it is. Would #18being there mix up the rankings that much anyways?
