Of the several sites listed, three say, "79 minutes". That second link even rephrases as, "1 hour and 19 minutes (approx)". It appears that the distributor is an independent label that specializes in stand-up comedy DVDs. Also, I found that three of these sites claim that it will be available on the 4th of April. However, ten of them say the 18th, so that's what I'm banking on.

I'm torn between waiting to be extra sure that it's the uncut version or just go ahead and just pre-order it now

ONLY the UK?

Well, now, gosh dern dadburn it!

If it's an independent company, doesn't that mean that they don't have access to the original, high-quality uncut scenes? Will they be using the awful, stuttering version on the 4Kids website?

AFAIK, that's how it would work with unlicensed releases, but any licensed distributor has to get their source footage from the rights-holders. Them being a non-profit organization is probably key for getting over whatever hurdles prevent the uncut movie from being released otherwise.

I really hope this is the uncut version, I still haven't seen it due to the 4kids site not letting anyone outside the US view it.

I'm so glad I have a region free DVD player, I've needed it just for TMNT!!
Season 1 - R2
Seasons 2-6 R1 (season 5 was originally R4 but the US release had Ninja Tribunal)
Season 7 R4
Turtles Forever R2 (currently R1, but waiting for the uncut version...)

Great news for the PAL folks, still not so great for me.

Did anyone ever find out what the deal was with the "Turtles Forever" preview that's supposed to be on the new "Spongebob Movie" blu ray? I've been keeping my fingers crossed that maybe there'd be something to that.

Have it in my Blockbuster rental queue to check on that when it comes out.

Son of a gun, got another import to buy, it looks.

What DVD of the first film has some of the deleted scenes? Is it a UK release or some other European release?

I expected this. Would have guessed Aussie actually but it's all another region code. I'll probably pick it up eventually. Will be watching these on the computer I guess.

I'm not sure. When I got my blu-ray player I remember reading that even if you did manage to unlock it and make it region free, the next patch/update would just restore the region lock. Not actually tested this though.

A lot of companies these days don't region lock their blu-rays though (I know WB's are all region free) so it's not as much of an issue as it once was. But that won't help you with the DVD as pretty much all DVDs are still region locked and your blu-ray player won't play them if they're not from the "correct" region.

Sadly not.

At this point I'm only buying UK Blu-Rays with the occassional import that I know is region free (like WB's animated DC movies), and my old multi-region DVD player is still set up so I can play all my Region 1 DVDs.

I'm hoping that the 2012 Nick series will be on region free Blu-Rays, if not then I'll be sticking to imported R1 DVDs.

Yeah. Even if you get a region-free Blu-ray player, there's no guarantee it'll play all DVD regions.

Though I think Oppo made a Region A Blu-ray player that also acts as an upscaling region-free DVD player that probably also converts a PAL signal to NTSC (on DVDs at least; don't know if it would apply to PAL format standard definition special features on a Blu-ray Disc). They were going to make it a region-free Blu-ray player as well, but the Blu-ray Disc Association were dicks about it and said Oppo would lose their license if they did that. The BDA are very strict about this sort of thing, not allowing multi-region players; the only region-free players I know of are ones made in China or someplace, free of the BDA's reach, and maybe some licensed players that have a secret workaround method of doing away with the region coding restriction.

It's all balls if you ask me, but a lot of foreign BD distributors thankfully don't put a regional lock on their discs, or at most only lock out Region C. I've got some UK, German, Italian, and Australian BDs that play perfectly well on my US PS3. Sadly, though, some UK companies releasing BDs that I'd like to have always lock their discs to Region B, like Disney and Optimum. (Dumbo has been on BD in the UK for over a year now, with still no word on a US release.)

Yeah Disney seem to be one of the few that always lock their discs, even with back catalogue releases.

But then again Disney seem to be one of very few companies that still stagger their cinema releases by MONTHS rather than days/weeks, which at least explains why they lock the newer titles.

And then there are some even stranger cases where a disc that's region free in the US will be region locked for it's later UK release (or vice versa).

Thanks for the info, I might look into that Oppo release if region locking becomes more of a problem for me in the future. I could use it to play US Blu-Rays and all my multi-region DVDs (I probably have as many US DVDs as UK ones).

Do a search for your exact model name and "Region unlock code" a lot of them that are locked have codes that can be used to turn that off.
