That karate turtles master is the coolest bootleg i've seen the box art is nice, too...i also remember reading some people like it because an official giant splinter was never made IIRC.

Boy some of these take me back. Being a poor kid growing up, I got quite a few toys I think now suspicious. It's funny to think now that I had many a bootleg back then. Those plastic candy container things are one I remember liking (until my jerk of a brother used them for BB gun target practice..grr)

Not all bootlegs are interesting. Most are crap I agree but there are a few gems out there. I also bought a few items simply because they made me laugh.

Yeah, some rock, others blow. I'm still willing to sacrifice a finger for that Saint Turtle bootleg Archon has. That's freakin' leet.

Check this out:
Not really sure if bootleg, but it's Argentinian, and they have lots of them. Look the box, it says "Ninja gigante articulada" (articulated giant ninja) and "Las ninja combatientes" (the combat ninjas), and doesn't even mention the word TURTLE. This is a close up, kind of nice, it looks very close to the original giant turtles. This is just another Argentinian cheesy bootleg. Now prepare to this... Teenage Mutant Ninja Hulk "So, what do you get when you cross a gamma-radiation contaminated man with a mutagen-induced mutant turtle? You get this guy. Teenage Mutant Ninja Hulk (Well, maybe he’s more middle-aged than teen-aged)." Holy sh... |

Cynic-al: I'm 99,9% that is a bootleg, i posted it earlier in this thread (the guy auctioning it wanted u$s 50 for it...get out of here x.x ) i love your other 2 finds in all their craptastic glory, specially the hulk... That donnie is nightmare inducing he has no eyeballs.. Edit: there's also this thing: http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/...-de-regalo-_JM I'm not sure if it's a bootleg or one of the legit ones made by jocsa, what i tought was weird that they randomly slapped a loose splinter figure in there (It reads "Free gift for you" and some other stuff i can't make out :q ) Last edited by Nickokapo; 02-28-2009 at 09:21 AM. |

Sweet! I want a Turtle Tank!
I picked up some knock-offs from a local dollar store back in the '90's. I knew they were fakes but I HAD to have them. The quality isn't great, but they came with cloth tunics and the weapons were hard plastic so I wound up using the bo and 'chucks for Don and Mike, respectively. The masks were a little different, and dumb me just had t ocut the belt loose just to wander on awe at the fake Turtles bear the initials on their belts just like the real TMNT! I still have them somewhere in my closet mixed amongst my other Turtle toys. |

My fascination with bootlegs derive from 2 reasons:
1. I enjoy things that are tragically terrible. For instance, I am also a very big fan of movies that are terrible on accident. 2. Rarity. I am a huge fan of rare turtles items be it bootleg or official. And some bootleg figures are FAR more rare than even the rarest of ninja turtles. We are talking about items made in the very low hundreds, rather than the thousands. That kinda rarity appeals to me. |

Hi guise, it's me again with more bootlegs and now they're Brazilian!
Here we have a couple of the basic 1988 series. Well, i'm not pretty sure if they are, maybe it's their national version, but if it is, it sucks... Donatello,Check the card art, and the yellowed bubble, the figure looks kinda same as the american version, but he only has two bo staffs. Michelangelo, same card, same all, just with two nunchakus. The back card. These thingies are on sale here: Don Mike ------------------------ And this weirdo mike, mmm, looks like Mossman of MOTU!, with his "furry" skin. (or maybe is just some dust) Wut? On sale too Mikey ----------------------- And another Craptastic chunky Donatello with Raphael. On sale Any comments? See you later! |
