I've been thrilled with the Darth Vader series. One of the few characters I like from the Star Wars movies, and it has not disappointed.
Evil twins of C3P0 and R2D2, too.

My go-to cast for Original Trilogy stories is a tiny little roster: Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and Darth Vader. Everyone else annoyed me... I didn't like Luke and Leia until the Expanded Universe. "Splinter of the Mind's Eye" was pretty awesome. Oh, and Boba Fett was a snoozefest until the EU. Speaking of Han, maybe I should check out the Han Solo series...

From what little I read it seems OK. I already hate the retcons like giving Han a black wife we never heard of before and Darth Vader working with these new characters at the same timeframe between Episode 4 and 5.

The main title is on my pull list. Probably the best thing Marvel is putting out. The only thing is it is nullifying its own comic from the '78-'86 set between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Between solid stories and characterization and spot on art it is the one comic aside from IDW'S TMNT that I anticipate.
I don't care much for overdoing the doppelgangers with R2 D2, C3PO, and Chewbacca. Also, I would prefer that the journal of Obi Wan Kenobi be its own mini-series instead of between arcs in 5he ongoing.

Have you read all 20 issues?
Here is a look at the upcoming arc set to start this week. http://www.starwars.com/news/elite-s...s-21-exclusive Has anyone read the Marvel 1977-1986 run and if so how does it compare and are you okay with this line erasing the previous?

thanks for the Vader referral Cylons!!
i read #1 of Darth Vader and was VERY impressed with the photo-like quality of the art. some panels look just a little pieced, and the action was a little stiff, but the art was still very pretty to look at over all. i'm wondering if the artist is using production and archive photos? or if he's using some of the many Star Wars figures that have come out for reference?

www.slashfilm.com/star-wars-comics-ending/
I did not know about it until I saw the notice on the last page of #73. I have followed it since the beginning and hoped it would go past the #108 that the alternate cannon presented. This is my second favorite title after TMNT's ongoing. A hiatus at this time? I don't know if it's great strategy. I want to read the OT era. Between ESB and ROJ? |

There's just no way I'd ever let myself get sucked into Star Wars novels and comics again. If I get hooked again, I'll have to buy and keep up with a whole bunch of crap. And probably it gets retconned away later anyway.

Why is Salvador Larocca only tracing the movies? It's like every time I check in I see some obvious tracing in the art, what the ****?

I love the original Marvel SW stuff. It had a raw, unpolished sense to it that reminds you there was a time when the franchise was more Space Cowboy throwback than the polished and glossy icon it is today.

after reading all of the old EU, minus the horror novels, I just don't care about it anymore if it's just going to be erased later.

I never bothered beyond Darth Plageuis as far as novels are concerned. Bought it the day it came out because it was advertised as the connection of all Star Wars episodes.
Still need to read Dark Empire. I am disappointed about Star Wars(2015) ending. I did not think it was at a stopping point. Just because Hoth is decided to be the base does not mean that is it. One guarantee is Dar Champion dies.

We have our answer, it will fill the gap between ESB and ROT. |
