Won't be surprised if there is no sequel, but if it gets one, I imagine it won't be greenlit for another year or so.
Maybe it just comes down to whether Haim wants to do one, even if it doesn't make quite as much money as expected.

Kids growing up and living the various incarnations of Power Rangers might not know that the elements of the show came from various Japanese versions of the series. They were known as Ninja Sentai. Now fans can enjoy the Ninja Sentai Kakuranger episodes for free this Saturday as part of Shout! Factory Streaming’s live event. It’s a perfect way to wake up for Saturday morning fun (only on the West Coast). Here’s the press release from Shout! Factory about how to tune into the fun:

See where the worldwide phenomenon began with Shout! Factory TV’s Super Sentai Spectacular: Kakuranger! Shout! Factory TV proudly presents a streaming marathon event with live Q&A and commentary segments as episodes of Ninja Sentai Kakuranger blast onto the screen on Saturday, May 20th at 9 a.m. (PST) at http://www.shoutfactorytv.com/ and on Pluto TV Channel 512.

Broadcast live from the Super Sentai secret headquarters somewhere in Hollywood, the marathon allows fans to experience epic Kakuranger episodes and try to stump the experts during live segments hosted by Shout! Factory’s Brian Ward, alongside comedian Hana Michels, Geek and Sundry and Twitch personality Erika Ishii, and Power Rangers Expert Shamus Kelley. Fans are encouraged to use #Kakuranger to share their Super Sentai knowledge and connect with live Q&A.

From the show that inspired Saban’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Ninja Sentai Kakuranger follows the rangers on a quest filled with martial arts, color costumes, giant monsters and more as they fight spectacular battles to save Earth from The Machine Empire. The marathon will be streaming episodes of the original Japanese series that inspired and provided footage for the Power Rangers franchise, presented in Japanese with English subtitles.

Join the live conversation with our panelists and other Super Sentai fans with the hashtag #Kakuranger while you watch.

Yep, Netflix would have zero to do with getting a sequel greenlit. Even if it did they wouldn't be able to get the streaming rights for years. Epix gets all of the Lionsgate films which are later streamed on Hulu and Prime.

Anyone pick up #15?

Spoiler:
We get a little more backstory of the alternate dimension through Zordon watching it from afar between worlds.
Not too much to comment on. I was hoping the second Triceratops coin/ morpher angle, but it will have to wait.

15 was definitely the better issue of this arc so far, seems like the one-offs are the more interesting aspects of the on-going

Justice League/Power Rangers did something interesting

Spoiler:
still, the comic is bland.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I didn't mean Netflix would generate revenue for the movie; but it can put a lot of eyes on it that missed out on it in theatres. If it gets a lot of viewings and positive ratings, it can have an impact on deciding whether or not to move ahead with a sequel (if they're even on the fence in the first place.) It's definitely a metric they'll at least look at.

By the time it's on Netflix the decision to make one will already have been made: a big, fat no.

People are also forgetting DVD sales. There have been films that were made based on the DVD sales of another bringing in more revenue.

Studios like Lionsgate wouldn't even have access to viewing numbers on Netflix.

Hardly anyone even buys DVDs or blu-rays anymore. It might see a spike in on demand kind of viewings, but not nearly enough to move the needle.

Sure they do. A producer buddy of mine has had two of her indy movies out on Netflix in the past 4 years and she can see lots of details: how many views, whats the average point when people turn it off, most common rating(though that system has changed to a thumbs up/down system now), ratings based on different demographics... lots of details. You just can't see what other movies/tv shows are doing. But if its yours, you can access it. Unless she has an in with Netflix and that's not a normal thing to have... but I'd imagine if she could, Lionsgate would have no problem.

Interesting. I was unaware of that. All anyone ever talks about is how Netflix won't release viewing data to anyone so no one knows how popular any movie or TV show is.

Best Buy's exclusive copies of the movie will have slipcovers with different artwork, fold-out packaging, and five character cards.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sabans-p...?skuId=5883872

I'd be interested in getting this for the cards. I'd like to know what they say on the backs of them. The listing currently says its sold out, but it probably only says that until they straighten things out with the item. I'm also pretty sure there will be plenty in the stores once they're released.

Now I just want to know what Wal-Mart's exclusive will be.
