That's true. If I saw an Elway item (I'm a huge Elway collector) on eBay that I don't see often, I would probably bid a lot. I have done it actually.
Same with the TMNT. If I saw something I REALLY wanted and it's not on eBay a lot, I would probably bid a lot on it. Like TMNT pies or TMNT catalog or MOC certain figures. I think whoever gets it will get great enjoyment out of it. |

Sadly, it wasn't me. I would have dropped for it in a second though. Unfortunately, the head was purchased before my ebay saved searched email was even sent me to...that's fast!
This is the same seller that I bought my Splinter puppet from by the way. |

Oh, I didn't mean that it was falling apart -- I just thought it looked horrible. Probably looked horrible in mint condition, too. ;P

Ah, yeah, well, a considerably less amount of work went into the stunt heads, for sure. But in cases like this you're paying for the history the item represents, not how they look.

Having the most turtles **** doesn't make you the biggest turtles fan it just means you have more money to blow then everyone else.

Did anyone see that Michelangelo cold cast statue for $100? I think it was the one where all 4 connect. If so, I thought they were more expensive than that?
Also, I keep 'almost' getting a good deal. Two times now, I saw a big lot of TMNT comics for an average of $0.50-1.00 a piece, then almost win it, then at the end, someone comes in and bids way to high for me. They still sell for an average of less than $2.00 a piece, but I'm trying to get a REALLY good deal. One lot was something like 25 or so issues of mostly Vol. 1 and I think Vol. 4, and the one that ended today was 33 issues of mostly Vol. 1 and Archie's, and went for $60. My high bid was $40. I'm just venting. One day I'll get a great deal on comics, because I'm wanting to get a bunch in a lot. |

Spending money on crap means very little in the end and isn't incredibly impressive IMO.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that sometimes an overexposure to the brand can taint someones passion. The more you know, the more there is to dislike as well as like. In that same vein, and admittedly I am feeling defensive myself on this particular topic, just because someone DOES choose to spend an abundance of money during the course of their fandom, does not mean they should be demonized for it. I think there are a number of people (and this is something I deal with on a very regular basis) that DO demonize the more celebrated collectors. I think you will find that terms like "The worlds biggest turtle fan" are NOT self appointed titles. Just something to keep in mind when throwing stones. Says the woman with every Turtles publication ever released. Just a wee bit hypocritical IMO |

Way too many IMOs in this topic, IMO.
