I woke up still breathing. That's always pretty awful.

Not to go all "silver lining" on it, but I suppose a humid day in august and a broken A/C could make waking up breathing worse.

Why does tomorrow already have to be Monday. I barely got to relax before it's right back to work, after the weight of this past week and then having to pack up the Halloween stuff, barely got to sit still at all and still dragging... An extra hour today feels like a joke prize.

Or better. Could have my heart seize and die in my sleep like my Dad did. That'd be nice.

I don't think the new guy at the gym knows how to operate the tanning bed properly. Woke up with a touch of light sunburn today, and I usually don't.

Ugh ...

Shipping wars are almost always pretentious.

Just, ship who you want to ship. There's no need to argue about it.

Stupid viruses going around kinda early this year. Someone went and gave me something and ruined my chance to make it to 4 years without being ill.

I suspect were it could have come from. Doing my last season change over on the 3rd one of that store's employees went into work with a near constant cough and the stupid girl proceeded to wander around most of the store coughing all over it. Though also some people's kids taken there basically doing the same.

Finally felt mostly back to normal as of yesterday.

Bizarre virus, never had one that didn't start with the nose and sore throat red flags and came on as fast as it did. Started as a cough in the middle of the night, within 12 hours felt like I had chills and progressed to fatigue and dizziness. The throat never did hurt other than coughing making it raw, never sneezed (all of 3 times) or needed the tissues until the 4th day...and that drip lasted for one day. Wtf was this... Viruses don't normally work in that patter. Have had worse, but would give it a zero star rating as has it lasted too long and too much of an energy drain, don't recommend getting that one.

I really like my new job, but I have serious doubts about my ability to do it long-term. It's not the same exact thing every day, but the stuff we had to do yesterday and today really murdered my neck and it's apparently the bulk of the job, most times.

For those unaware or who may have forgotten, I suffered a compression fracture of my C6 vertebrae some time around 1997, which I did not find out about until I had X-rays done in 2008; since I never knew about it for over 10 years, it never healed properly, and as a result my entire cervical spine is misaligned and slopes to the left at about a 30-degree angle. I also got hurt one time while wrestling, when my C1 slipped out of place and I lost the use of my right arm entirely for a few weeks, and took months to get any mobility or strength back. I essentially have early-onset degenerative spinal arthritis, with some muscular atrophy in the trapezius region and various degrees of nerve damage in the entire neck area. Since my skull isn't centered on my neck properly, it sends constant pain signals from the base of my skull behind my right ear down through my neck and down to my left hip; since it's constant and has been going on for so long, I've taught myself to tune a lot of it out, and so I mostly don't even notice it until it gets blinding. Like if I sit for too long, I'll sometimes get a migraine so bad that it'll literally force my right eye shut. That's pretty rare, but it happens often enough that I try like hell to avoid anything that would trigger it.

Suffice to say, my neck is generally pretty bad even on a good day. I cannot move my head in any direction, ever, without it sounding like a series of branches snapping. People hear the noise and ask me how I'm even walking around, I tell them I have no idea and that I'm just used to it by now. They tell me I should get it fixed and I say that if I had money for that, I'd have money for lots of things. I was doing a lot better when I was going to the chiropractor two or three days a week, but that stopped a while ago.

So anyway, the last two days at work had me doing a LOT of the specific movements which my doctors all told me to avoid doing at all costs forever, and by the time the day was over I could hardly even see anymore. My C6 is bulging way out and pinching a nerve in my shoulder, and towards the end of the day I had a really hard time getting my left arm to cooperate. Like, there's no getting out of it, the job is what it is, but like... I physically can't do it. I need to, somehow, there's no way I'll find another job at my age with this pay and these benefits. I just... don't think I can. Like it all became immediately clear at once why a place with such great pay and perks is constantly under-staffed and hiring. I had a feeling something had to be too good to be true.

It gets better after I'm home and stretched out for a few hours, but every day my neck quits on me a little earlier than the day before; I've only been there a week, so that isn't good. Like I had to ask myself if I could see myself doing this another 20 years, and I said absolutely not. So then I started scaling it back, thinking maybe ten years, or five... and then finally I realized that I don't even know if I could do this a year. Again, I don't have any choice, but... Jesus.

For now, all I can do is grit my teeth and push through until my medical benefits kick in come February. I can start going to the chiropractor at least once a week again, but I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and go to the doctor for a painkiller prescription. Like, there's just no other way I'm gonna be able to get through this job long-term unless I'm completely numb. I'm pretty pissed about that, but I mean, it's not like I have any options. It's not like I can be the ONE guy in his 40s doing manual labor who ISN'T hooked on Oxycontin; like, it's pretty much mandatory by that point.

I guess that's one of the "perks" of getting old; people expect and encourage you to be all pilled up just to survive. I'd hoped to avoid it but I guess it's enough I made it this far.

At least I have a 4-day weekend after Wednesday, and Wednesday is supposed to be lighter than the last two.

Sorry to hear Leo, sounds like a horrible problem to have and now it's an issue with your new job.

My gear grind, more a Technodrome cafe thing I think. I'll just say a problem not entirely in my control taking it's toll and leaving me stuck. Also, crappy trades people....and a lot of tradespeople all telling me different things.

That sucks. Does the company not have any other sorts of jobs/duties that need taken care of that you might be able to jump to later if they like you and want to keep you around?

Grind... will be grateful when this cough, etc finally clears out. Sore muscles just from coughing is enough, eesh. Still a bit of ear stuffiness and occasional headache. And the occasional coughing fits in public are so fun, being that person that others might want to set fire to just in case... lol Only fair I guess since I hate having any sick sounding people near me -- such as one constant sniffler today ugh... she better not get me sick again, I have too much work to do next week.

Nah, it's warehouse work, even the supervisors all do the same stuff they just get paid more.

There was a minor production mistake that set us back a bit this afternoon, and my supervisor looked at me and laughed, then said "NOW you know why nobody wants this job!"

We'll see how it goes, today ain't so bad.

Figured I'd try and learn how to use Pro Tools.

I cannot learn how to use Pro Tools.

Like literally, I can't do anything. The thing is too large for my browser window and I can't resize it, so half the buttons I need to use aren't even on the screen. I think maybe this laptop isn't good enough for it, because it can't even run the Tutorial videos properly; it SAYS it meets the specifications but somehow I doubt it. If it runs the Tutorials at all, they're Mute. I NEED the tutorials AND the Pro Tools open at the same time but it simply refuses to let that happen.

Google, as usual, is no help at all. Just lots and lots of people saying "It's SO easy", which always makes me feel GREAT. And suggestions which don't resolve my problem at all.

I need to take the f*cking hint and just stop trying to do stuff. Like ANY stuff.

It doesn't size itself to the screen? That is bizarre. Have you tried the laptop's own display settings to see if the program was stupidly set to something specific and might be able to bring those buttons back into view?

Nothing has worked yet but I'unno, we'll see. I messed with it a little more and figured ONE thing out, but not that thing. Some people suggested that re-installing it might fix it, but it didn't. But it did fix another problem, so... yay?

I'unno just something I felt like messing with. I always wanted to make music but an actual band was never in the cards, schedule-wise. Figured this might be as far as I ever get, if I can figure out how to use the interface. I'll poke at it once in a while, see what happens. I doubt I'll ever get good at it, supposedly it takes a lot of practice and I simply don't have the time.

Taking advantage of a young individual's naïveté is absolutely sickening.

Jesse Rutherford is disgusting.

To think that I used to enjoy listening to "Sweater Weather" ...

My whole family got sick right after Thanksgiving which made me lose two days of work. I was seriously sick only two months ago that lasted for nearly an entire month. WTF! I thought I would get a longer reprieve than this. Hopefully I'll be well enough to go to work tomorrow. I can't afford to miss too many days. I really have to budget every penny, and I wish I was exaggerating that.
