Rise has been Green lit for Season 2

https://twitter.com/TMNT/status/1022882072631934978

It will have 26 episodes.

I think that's why some of the episodes were released early so, Nick could Green Lit season 2.

That doesn't make one iota of sense. Nickelodeon released their own show early so... they could greenlight their own show earlier for season 2? Huh?

I guess Nickelodeon wanted to see how well the 1st episodes did with the fans, ratings, online video views ect.

It was actually announced at the Television Critics Association today. So would they have announced it if Nickelodeon didn't release the episodes early.

Awesome for everyone involved to have jibs!

What are the odds though that they already had a number of episodes produced ahead of time and just split them into two seasons?

It just makes be believe more that ratings are not the driving force for the life of a show nowadays.

Yes amazing ratings you will get 10 seasons. But I’m thinking an average show gets 4/5 seasons standard.

Doesn’t it send a bad message to not give a show at least 4 seasons?

If you have a ton of one season shows and a bunch of canceled programs it looks like you have bad decision making skills when it comes to creative hiring choices.

So, I guess the premiere for the first episode had good ratings in order for this to happen right away? I just Leo is the leader in the season final with him being the official leader in season two

Can't say I'm surprised, it would be hard to believe Nick would not do at least two, so it doesn't really mean all that much imo, but does seem a little ambitious and premature to be announcing it already.

Kind of like the equivalent of if a 3rd film had gotten green lit in 2016, but only after we saw a handful of trailers for that second movie.

Original Nickelodeon series

The original Nickelodeon series was renewed for a second season already on Tuesday 2 October 2012, just some days after "Rise of the Turtles"

I honestly feel like these are PR moves. Nickelodeon probably knows full well they want to test the waters with two seasons out the gate, so they release the first episode and to drive up potential good will to the new series ... they announce "OH WOW, IT'S BEEN GREEN LIT FOR SEASON TWO", even though it was all part of the plan from the beginning.

We'll see how this show REALLY does in the next two years.

That was quick, are we sure they didn't order a 52 episode season and then split it up into two? Because that would make a lot more sense.

Anyway, each episode is divided into 2 stories, meaning that they have around 104 stories to tell within 2 seasons. That seems kind of nuts.

LOL @ people who thought the show would get canceled quick.

It's most likely planned to have a 5 year run like the 2012 series did. Although given it has 11 minute eps, it's going to wind up having double the amount of eps of the Nick show if it goes on 5 years.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

This doesn't mean much, shows take like a year to make so that's why they're renewed when the season starts to have more episodes not long after the season finishes. Obviously we need to wait until the show properly airs and toys come out to see if the show is a success or bombs. It's the third season that people should be worried about.

I bet it's gonna be under a different title. You know, like Tangled: The Series, season 5 of TMNT 2012, that last two seasons of TMNT 2003, and Pokemon.

Why would they change the title so early on in Season 2? Makes no sense when the Rise title gives it brand recognition and separates it from 2012.

This is significant. Other shows like Thundercats 2011 only got 1 Season and never renewed, terminated altogether.

Nick must be very confident hence they ordered Season 2 very early. Bravo.

That was back in 2011, animation has changed a lot since then and many shows are renewed early, happened the same with TMNT 2012 IIRC. Hell the 26 episode order of Thundercats 2011 was also relatively new at the time, up until the mid/late 00's most shows would only get 13 episode seasons but the trend started to be 26 later on and shows were no longer cancelled after 52/65 episodes.

I'm not saying Season 2 of Rise was guaranteed but if they had any fate or invested any significant money at all on the project they would've been committed to a season 2. That's why I've always mentioned this show would get 1 or 2 seasons since I found S2 likely in this project. I hope the show gets more seasons, but until we see what the actual audience of the show is and how merchandise is selling we won't know.
