i've gotten almost every figure in the line so far. for me, yes, each fig is more than i'd ideally want to pay. that said though, i don't think these are 1:1 with neca. i like a lot of what neca is doing, but the sculpt quality/level of detail and the intricate paint work put these super7 figures on a higher tier, imo. it's clear that they're spending a lot to get these made. they're almost all wholly unique sculpts every time, whereas neca reuses parts constantly (how many times has the base rocksteady and bebop body been used? how many times have we been forced to get a foot soldier?) i'm not saying one line is better than an other - i like them both and they both have different objectives. but i do think you're getting what you pay for in each.

still, i wouldn't be mad if super7 cut their prices a bit, but with demand as high as it is, i can't see that happening.

edit: to be fair though, the neca movie line is really insane, both with sculpt and paint. and i think the prices reflect that. tokka and rahzar were 70, closer to 90 when shipped. that definitely brings the price point quite a bit closer to super7, but still, i'd argue in this case neca is the better value.

Super7’s licensing rights from Playmates might not allow them to have a lower price point. This has been stated with NECA, which is why they HAVE to release their figures as two packs with a “premium” price point. Super7 probably has a similar deal and opted for a single figure at the required price point.

I personally could do without a lot of the bells and whistles if it meant these could be closer to $35 apiece. The packaging, the extra sprued weapons, some of the bonus accessories... it's all nice but saving $10 per figure would be amazing and would add up fast.

Still, I've ordered everything so far. I skipped April and the Foot Soldier initially but ultimately caved. This is a dream line for me and we likely won't be seeing anything like it again, at least not in a loooong time. Yes the NECA toon line is great but really, the vintage figures are what I picture when I think of my childhood, not the cartoon. Because of that I'm ready to splurge a few times a year to get everything (with an asterisk). And really, this is the kind of line that holds it's value so if I decide to sell down the road I'll be able to recoup my costs.

*"Everything" for me is all of the basic characters that were released in the 80s/90s, within reason. I'd skip Mona Lisa and perhaps the Channel 6 crew and the Neutrinos, but Groundchuck, Halfcourt, Dirtbag, etc would all be buys. At $35 apiece they'd probably talk me into getting some of the turtle variants like Samurai Leo but for $45 they'll probably be a pass.

i agree with literally everything you said.

- i could do without the weapon sprue
- the toyline is far more iconic, to me, than the cartoon
- i'm down to splurge on this a few times a year as it's a dream line
- would skip the less interesting humanoid figures/turtle variants, but super excited to see more of the cool mutant one-offs

If we pretend series 5 is the final installment, what 4 characters would you need? For me it would be:
Slash
Pizzaface
Wingnut
Leatherhead

Alright, let's see where we're at with my list now. A few essentials crossed off! Nice!

Essential:
  • Ray Fillet
  • Wingnut & Screwloose
  • Scumbug
  • Antrax
  • /// Mondo Gecko
  • Wyrm
  • Slash
  • Leatherhead
  • /// Metalhead
  • Triceraton
  • Sergeant Bananas
  • Merdude
  • Groundchuck
  • /// Muckman

Nice to have:
  • Half court
  • Doctor El
  • Hothead
  • Scaletail
  • Pizza face
  • Dirtbag
  • Scratch
  • Sandstorm
  • Fugitoid
  • Chromedome
  • King Lionheart
  • Usagi Yojimbo
  • Krang
  • Scratch

So, if there was just ONE more wave, I guess I'd really hope to see:
  • Ray Fillet
  • Wingnut/Screwloose
  • Wyrm
  • Scumbug
  • Antrax

Yeah, that's five. I can't narrow down any further! LOL. I'd be really bummed we never saw a Triceraton or a Slash, too. I really hope Super7 keeps this line going for a while, and I do hope they speed up a little!

I see a lot of Slashs and Leatherheads on people's lists. I'd be really surprised if we don't see at least one of those two in the next wave.

Luckily we already know they're doing at least 7 waves, but if we only got four more figures I'd need
Slash
Wingnut
Triceraton
Usagi Yojimbo/Panda Khan (how about a two-pack?!)

Usagi would be the best Ultimate figure out of them all.

Not official yet, but Brian said they are looking into adding the unmasked prototype casey jones Head. They have heard the comments.

Cool. Did he say anything about them tweaking the masked head? People pretty unanimously aren't feeling it 100%.

Nada....I like the mask/sculpt myself, but it could use a tweak.

Got it. Well, if you get a chance, let the Super7 crew know that, even despite some ultra minor nitpicks on our end, we're over the moon excited about this line. We appreciate them for it!

Usagi is a nightmare license wise, but I would give my left nut for S7 and NECA to make one that doesnt suck for a change.

Brian has already confirmed that Super7 has Usagi. Signed earlier this year. He'll be up for pre-order next year.

If wave 5 is the last I'd like:

Usagi
Man Ray
Triceraton
Don't care
