Given that they're cats, I can see the sense in sushi. But then again, pizza doesn't really make sense for turtles.
We're just going on a very, very long meta train, aren't we? (The Iguana is played by Phyllis Diller in the first live action movie )

Kevin mentioned in a livestream that the Ragdolls love sushi and anime. (also the names were inspired by Kevin's favorite anime directors)
I can't help but notice the back of the red coat Otomo is wearing looks an awful lot like Kaneda's coat from Akira. Very cool little anime nod.

This project has potential to be super interesting. You know...assuming it's layered with enough fact over fiction. I mean, this has to be some pseudo-Kevin Eastman comic biography, right?
Will it be available once all the kickstarter business is said and done? |

Any backers for this project read the first issue yet? Wasn't it released digitally on January 31st?

...Lol actually just not supposed to share the file. First impression was it felt a lot like other projects with Kevin behind the wheel: crime'n'babes, with a more polished script and great art by Bishop (and even a couple flashback pages by Kevin!). I'm hoping for more backstory and thematic tie-ins to the TMNT franchise in future issues, but there's a chance it could just be a slightly smarter-than-Kev's-average crime romp with a comic artist slant. The thing I'm still most looking forward to about this project is my two copies of RRRR #1. |

I don't know, Otomo seems pretty bad ass. Miyazaki seems like the Mikey of the group

Tezuka's weapons and placement in the splash panel suggest she's the leader, which also works with Osamu Tezuka being kind of the hallmark figure of the manga renaissance, as it were, much like Leonardo Da Vinci is arguably the most well known artist of Italian Renaissance. ...and to just state the obvious: Otomo (of the gritty aggressive Akira namesake) is through and through the Raphael. That would leave us Mikeyless, kind of a group without a heart, which seems oddly fitting for a parody of the TMNT. Or maybe a weird reflection of Eastman's TMNT (thinking about Bodycount being pretty heartless). Lol I'm putting so much thought put into three parody characters, only one of which has had a couple panels of actual 'screentime' thus far. |
