Thanksgiving Food
Since Thanksgiving is a few weeks away, if you can believe that, what is your favorite food of the holiday? Mine is the macaroni salad, kielbasa, and the cranberry sauce.

My Mom’s Mac n’ Cheese is out of this world. We bought the shells for the recipe weeks in advance.

Macaroni salad & kielbasa? That's summer party food out in NY. Good stuff, though.
My favorite has always been the green bean casserole, even though I hate most of the ingredients individually (barring the exception of French's onions). Other highlights include corn casserole, & cornbread, I love anything involving corn. Naturally, turkey & all the other stuff kicks ass, but those are my top 3.

My top fave thing in general...the chestnuts we put in the stuffing.
Grew up with that as my grandparents had chestnut trees, so we had to work for it back then. (Both the pealing and dealing with the tree version of porcupines you have to get them out of.) Now we just try to get bags of them that are already pealed. I'm not even a big stuffing person, I typically only go for any crispy or chewy edge pieces. As far as an actual complete food item goes, probably a tie with the mashed potatoes, cornbread, and the pumpkin pie later on. |
