I'm with C42 on this one; that four-breasted twin-vag'ed Species 8472 monstrosity is just the most bizarre thing I've ever seen.
Apparently horny 14yo's get to create official concept art now. What a beautiful world.

My quam, is that, it's just not possible. It breaks the laws of physics, it couldn't exist. The spine wouldn't work that way, the internal organs make NO SENSE AT ALL. Her Throat meets her rectum? Two human rib cages? All of this and the creature has survived long past birth?
Why? because they haven't bothered to understand physiology or anatomy. They simply took a pre existing character mesh (lest you think these guys are mastr painters, it's not the case at all. ) and did a bit of cut and paste, slapped a bra and stripes on it and called it "art". Fvck that. Millennials man... Maybe this summer I should compete in the 100m. If I'm the slowest do I win gold anyway? I think I should also be president, because I waaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaa. |

You forgot to add the S&M fetish in there, Cy. Clearly these 14 yr-olds are projecting some serious kinks.

That said, it's not a bad design as either as a demonic entity, or some kind of freak mutant experiment. Sure, if the design represents an actual species or creatures that are born like that it's a bit jarring and problematic. Maybe if it was depicted standing on it's human legs and was a four armed creature it would have looked better, but if the idea is that it's supposed to move like a quadruped, having it stands it's hind legs using its knees are bad design. Knees are not meant to walk on and would be impractical. So as a humanoid looking quadruped species, it should had hind legs looking like arms like the front legs, almost looking like a Centaur from the Fallout universe. It's all about making unrealistic designs work, like actual Centaurs from standard Greek and Fantasy depictions. You have to make them look plausible to not break immersion, since a Centaur can't exists. It's too top heavy to be able to run without falling over, but making the designs solid enough and people will forget that, some of the better Centaur designs have a bigger horse body compared to the human half, making it look less top heavy. MOTU is chalk full with crazy creature designs which doesn't necessarily comes from a natural origin, such as Modulok who turned himself into what he is in most iterations. |

The design is meant to represent a human animal hybrid/enhanced human.
Walking on ones knees, with a torso attached to your neck, for a multitude of reasons, isn't sound design logic, no matter how you slice it. Jupiter ascending has no demonic creatures, it's all Sci-fi, set in our universe. And, c'mon, that's a really lazy kitbash. Long story short, keep these hacks away from He-Man. |

Well, on the bright side, I can't think of too many other properties that come with such an extensive and well considered design history. The character concept job is done already - all they have to do is translate it to suit the tone they're going for.
On anatomy: there comes a time when it is appropriate to work around physical reality. If the concept is strong enough, and the silhouette is visually pleasing, the design can still work. Like Goro form Mortal Kombat - Anatomically speaking, you can't have four arms and only two pecks, but Goro still works.

Depends on what Goro was designed to do. Really exist in the real world?... Sure; his second arms would flop limply by his side. Be memorable and imposing in a fantasy video game mythos, I give him an A.
You can't really design any kind of fantasy creature without employing bull sh*t. It's just a matter of what style of bull sh*t you employ. Pick anything in the realm of crustacean men, green talking tigers, and skull-faced bodybuilders and you can point out anatomical flaws.

How about an awesome, wallet emptying video instead?
I don't like many things, but this statue, is just, perfection. If The movie brings the designs to life, THIS way, ...Like, this is how you do it folks...THIS The He-Man companion piece isn't half as good, but this guy, is outstanding. Who am I kidding, i have 0 hope for McG-Man. |

I kind of preferred it with the plum colored skin...but man...It's just so damned good... The Filmation statues are great as well: But this is what I mean about great execution: VS what really only amounts to fan art: ^^^I get that this is based on the new comics from 2000, but I really hated the direction they went. A skull, on its own is menacing enough; no need for the huge canine teeth and glowing red eyes. Or these: Versions of, sure, and not taking away from the artist, But good art isn't enough; it should be great. Last edited by Commenter 42; 01-27-2016 at 05:34 PM. |

I love those statues. I can't be buying stuff like that though, but if I had more money and a bigger house...
I have a handful of the 2002 mini statues, which were a pretty awesome idea I thought. Not too expensive, but really nicely put together.

Sure they look cool, but it's not like Skeletor's design has any logic from an anatomical standpoint.

That's true. Skeletor isn't logical, but he is magical. And played right, magic in high-fantasy/sword & sorcery have a lot more leeway then pseudoscience in sci-fi.
He's basically a Lich, a undead sorcerer med a skeleton for a head. |

I think the 200X is the definitive MOTU. True, Skeletor's fangs are a bit much, but I like his glowing eyes when he gets angry. And I remember him being depicted with red eyes in the original minicomics as well sometimes, so it's not just in the 200X.
