Absolutely. They made way too much noise about Grandpa Batman to walk it back now. Especially after the online community overwhelmingly said "Grandpa Batman is like, the One and Only Thing we care about from DC movies."

They're stuck. Between that and Miller being part of a protected class, there's nothing anyone can do except release the movie somewhere, eventually, and hope it at least makes its budget back, which it almost certainly will. It's a super-hero movie and Keaton's Batman is getting good buzz; the fact Miller can't be put on the press tour is a problem, but even without him doing talk shows you have to figure the movie easily does at least $600-700 million anyway because all super-hero movies do. That would be worth it for WB, even in spite of all the headaches.

Like, Miller is an embarrassment. But he's not as MUCH of an embarrassment as losing nearly $300 million on a finished movie would be. I get why it's tempting to not release it but that would in fact be the dumbest and most self-harmful thing they could do. Best thing to do is just weather the storm, release the movie as-planned and try and keep a tight leash on Miller until the second post-release weekend. They'll at least make SOME of their money back that way, and nobody expects them to keep Miller around afterwards so they won't even look bad when they announce a recast soon after.

That's really all they can do, any other course of action loses them a ton of money and they've got enough red ink after the Batgirl disaster.

DC needs to make its stars sign contracts with the "good guy" clause again like in the 80s for the Superboy tv series before Lois & Clark in the 90s.... The first Superboy actor got busted for drunk driving & got ousted. If they did that same clause today, no issues when making the movies/shows. They just fire and replace the sh!tbaggers.

That's part of what happened with John Haymes Newton after the first Season of "Superboy", but not the entire story. The offense was part of it, but it was also compounded by Newton lying to a judge about the specifics of the offense, which made it even worse.

However, Newton's performance in the role of Clark/Superboy had gotten poor-to-mediocre reviews since the beginning and he was by all accounts becoming something of a primadonna despite not having done anything of note. The show was dramatically overhauled after the first Season ended and became almost an entirely different show, with several cast members being replaced and others being let go altogether. The showrunners WANTED to replace Newton even before the driving offense, but given that he was the star of the show it would have been much more difficult, in a vacuum, to replace him compared to how easily they'd replaced the Lex Luthor actor, for example. They were already exploring their options for how to get rid of Newton, and "thankfully", his brush with the law gave them a good enough reason to replace him without it looking too bad.

So "He got himself in trouble" was PART of the reason he was replaced on the show by the far-superior Gerard Christopher, but the fact is it was mostly just a convenient excuse to get rid of him when they were already trying to figure out how to do just that, anyway.

Just a little free History Lesson, since I know for a fact nobody here but me has seen, remembers, or knows much about the behind-the-scenes of that show. Some of it was also covered in the aforementioned book, "Superman vs. Hollywood", which I can't recommend enough.

The last straw that will break the camels back is if Ezra actually murders someone. No way will they promote a movie if your lead actor is a murderer. That would be the one and final thing to drive a nail in the coffin.

I think even if Ezra commits suicide that still won't be enough to tank the movie. But killing someone else? That will doom it for sure.

Hm... maybe Affleck shooting new scenes in The Flash to "adjust" certain things? What could this possibly mean, I wonder?

Another Rumor is The Rock has helped get Henry Cavill in this movie. Looks like his Superman will meet Supergirl from what I am seeing

I don't want to step on anyone's toes, these aren't my scoops to make, but I think Henry Cavill fans are going to be happy moving forward with DC movies. It seems like the bridge between WB and Cavill has been crossed and it's not just a BLACK ADAM scene.

And yes, I have heard you can thank The Rock for this. He was... insistent the sides come together.

The guy has gone way too far. He HAS to pay. The "But I'm gay!" wild card won't save his ass this time.

It always does, you watch.

"Regular" gay, no, that doesn't help him much. He's Rich Important Gay, though. They need him for The Cause. Lock him up, he pulls a Jussie Smollett and gets out in three days by screaming "discrimination". Just wait and see. Nothing will come of this, nothing was ever going to come of ANY of this.

I’m completely amused by Ezra. I heard he doesn’t demand you use his pronouns, when you’re in person with him.

Don’t know if it’s true, but if so, I’m cracking up at the whole situation.

In the highly unlikely event that a rich person in America is incarcerated, they go to "jail". NOT Jail.

Less "shower rape and lifting weights in the courtyard", more like a crummy studio apartment that still gets full cable and internet so it ain't so bad.

Not the same rules, not even the same sport.
