Playmates Movie Star Box Set 2020

So playmates just announced this on their facebook page.
No other information or pictures are available as far as I can see.

What could possibly been in there???

Coming soon to a Target Store near you!
Merry Christmas!
Seems like playmates have become a box maker as that's the only thing they are getting right about this whole adult collector's line.

No idea what's inside... it might be those wave2 6inch turtles from classic collection.

It seems like it will be reissues of the 1992 Movie Star TMNT, 1992 Movie Splinter, and the ‘92 Movie Foot Soldier. I cannot see them repainting Super Shredder, Tokka, and Rahzar for this set. I could be wrong, but I think this will be a 6 piece set like the Mirage Walmart exclusive.

That star says it "Includes XX Figures Inspired by the 1990s Movies!" I just can't make out the number. Looks like 11...Maybe the 1990's Movie Stars (The Turtles, Splinter, Foot Soldier, Super Shredder and Tokka and Rahzar), April and Casey from TMNT III?

I think it says 8, but maybe it’s 6.

It says “inspired by the 90’s movies” movies. Plural.

So I’m guessing if it is 6
4 turtles
Shredder - regular shredder repainted in movie colors.
Splinter

If it’s 8
Foot soldier x2

But do they have the movie sculpts? Or are these the same four turtles with “movie inspired” paint jobs.

I could also see
4 turtles
Splinter
Super shredder
Tokka
Rahzar

I dunna, the box art is obviously modeled after the 1990's releases.

It looks like 8.

Playmates used the Movie Star sub-wave logo for Super Shredder in 1999, so I could see Super Shredder, Tokka, and Rahzar for this set.

I gotta say, as much crap as I have given Playmates the last few years, the box designs they've been doing on these collector sets is pretty cool. I don't think I will end up picking them up as I already have most of the vintage stuff and don't even have it displayed but if I came across them for the right price in the future and have a proper area to fit them I would probably pick these up since I only have a few of the Movie Star figures and that set of bootlegs that was sold on Alliexpress a few years ago. To me the biggest selling point is the packaging though.

Very nice!

I will try to get this as I definitely want it for the 4 brothers...they are so expensive on Ebay lol. I do have Splinter, Foot Solider, Tokka, Razhar and Super Shredder and got them at pretty good prices a few years ago.

My apologies. The photo on the Preternia Twitter page is clearer.
A Movie 3 April? Not a Movie Foot Soldier?

It is either that or the Movie Star figures (the turtles, Splinter, and the Foot Soldier) only.

If it was to be 8, do you think they’d rerelease the 4 movie star turtles and the 4 movie 3 turtles?

I don’t know if we will ever see reissues of the Movie 3 turtles. The Movie 3 turtles were not resold in the 1994 or 1998 reissue lines. Playmates had to repaint the Movie 3 figures and brand them as Shogun turtles later in the mid 90s.

Playmates had planned to re-release the Movie Star turtles in 2009, but nothing ever materialized. Then, Movie Star Leonardo without its belt was part of the History of Leonardo Toys “R” Us exclusive in 2016. Now, we are finally seeing the Target exclusive adult collector box set with the Movie Star turtles. Hopefully, the sales of this box set will lead to more box sets with rarer characters from the original Playmates toyline.

Sadly, I do not see Movie 3 turtles being in any of the adult collector box sets of the 2020s.

My guess is that we'll get the 4 movie star turtles and then likely Super Shredder and Foot Solider.

I'm guessing it's 6 figures, just because that's what was in the SDCC set. This box seems to be the same size.

Not sure if I'll bite, but I'm intrigued.
