Back in my day...

Back in my day, "Ninja Turtles" were turtles that bit paper shredders!

Back in my day, Twitter was an annoying bird that sat up in my tree, tweeting about how he hated life, and kept telling other birds to tweet it again!

Back in my day, prank-I mean "social experiments" were throwing bags of flaming dog poop in peoples' yards, not spanking random women's asses. (What is the plural of ass? Asses? Ass? )

Back in my day I had to use the encyclopedia to do research. Today I use Wikipedia.

Back in my day...

The end of May and early June didn't feel like August.

The first "turtle" in a computer "game" was in fact only a triangle on a black and green Apple computer screen that responded to basic written commands.

Nintendo owners lived under the false assumption that blowing in the cartridge would make the game work.

We had to go to a library to research for school reports. After school, when we were tired and had other homework waiting at home and dinner had to wait. Now there's kids too lazy to look up their own info with Google in front of them.

We (or at least some of us) were not permitted to touch our parent's pricey gadgets (i.e. my parents original VHS camcorder) even if old enough to be responsible with it... now you have 2-year-olds jabbing at expensive tablets and phones and under-10s owning one.

Schools didn't have A/C or TVs. (Okay, my high school did.)

Our parents didn't really get the TMNT craze, but now they're the first grandparents who totally get it. Or at least get it more now and don't mind reliving it.

What's back in your day for some here... kindergarten?

Yeah. This is the worstest of worst ideas ever. Not only because I think giving kids computer screens at an early age is bad, but because kids are the clumsiest creatures alive. Don't hand them an expensive iPad. They're gonna drop it to the floor many, many times.

I miss that. I feel like it was only Disney who used that though.

Back in my day, those little Ninjitsu Terrapins only cost $3.99! Now it's $8.88!

Back in my day, Wal Mart was a place to buy walls!

Back in my day it wasn't considered funny to say slightly longer versions of names that already exist.
