Video game ideas you drew and had when you were younger
Back in the 1990's, video games weren't always accessible to children 24–7–365. Yes, you could play whenever you wanted, but with many of us having a limited number of video games, playing the same few titles all the time wasn't fun.
Toileting meant reading video game magazines and school breaks meant discussing them, but another fun thing to do after school was sitting at a table drawing. Often, this meant making up and drawing video games, starting with a title screen and the playable character, before drawing level by level, cut scenes and end scenes. Personally, I would draw: Action games (usually hack and slash, shoot 'em up or walk and punch, both original ideas and already existing ones, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Levels took place on various locations around Earth, and on other planets. Even some versus fighting (not TMNT). Adventure games (tried a Zelda with maps, sidescrolling video games better fitted for paper) Platform games (including Mario and even a crossover with Sonic, I think, back in mid 1993) Last edited by Original TMNT Cartoon Fan; 09-09-2024 at 11:14 AM. |

I used to draw my own made up Twisted Metal vehicles and drivers when I was a kid. One of my friends who was poor and kind of mean I ended up drawing on a unicycle with machine guns.

When I was a kid I sent a videogame idea to capcom they turned down. I was a huge fan of "Base Wars" for the NES. I sent them a suggestion for a Base Wars/Street Fighter 2 game that I still think would be awesome.

Not when I was a kid but as an adult I’ve had ideas for Sonic levels and a Mario Crossover. Haven’t drawn out anything but I want too.
Basically the Chaos Emeralds open a portal to the Mushroom Kingdom and Eggman teams up with Bowser and shares his technology. Levels and Gameplay would be the traditional platforming each series is known for but the stages would be a blend of both universes. There’d be Sonic/Tails/Knuckles Suits for Mario and Mushrooms, Flowers, Stars for Sonic. Each level would incorporate obstacles for them. Pipes would lead to other areas but also some would act like Chemical Plant tubes to zip around. Bosses would include Bullet Bill Mechs and Metal Hammer Bros. Final Boss would be a Giant Robot Turtle piloted by Robotnik and Bowser called the Eggshell. Mario could turn into...well “Super” Mario but he could be called something else like Emerald Mario and fight along side Super Sonic.

I think I had a few I mailed out when I was like 13. But not ones that anyone here would relate to.

I remember drawing a lot of world maps based on Super Mario World and SNES Star Fox and Star Fox 64 with my own levels and names.
I recall also making a world map for an Action Man video games on MS Paint back in the day. |
