The Jerry Springer Show Ceases Production
...Bet you thought it ended ages ago
Frankly, with as much of a backlog of episodes, nobody can tell which one's a repeat or a new instalment unless you go wayyy back to the original set and when Wilkos was just a bouncer https://www.cbc.ca/news/entertainmen...ends-1.4715578 |

Well, there's always Jeremy Kyle clips.
I find this kind of amusing since I've been hypnotized by Dr Phil on Youtube. Which I've realized is pretty tame compared to Springer even when things are absolutely insane.

I watched a few a very long time ago and yes ZariusTwo, I did think it had ended. Everyone talks about Jeremy Kyle now, I never watch it though.

I saw the Jerry Springer show with my friends back in the year 2000 when it was still being taped in Chicago. That was something a lot of people did in the Chicagoland area after they turned 18, go see Jerry Springer. What else were you gonna do when you turned 18? Go buy a pack of cigarettes?

I remember watching it the most when I was in 10th grade...back in 2001.
Hard to believe that was 17 years ago and that was considered "late" in the shows run, and it went on another 17 years after. |

Bingo! Cubed mentions the passing of time once again.
On topic, I can't believe it was actually still going. Thought it was all just syndicated reruns.

To be honest, I never cared much for the Springer show, nor the Maury show, or even the Wilkos show back when it was still on-the-air.
The only thing that I found mildly entertaining was the constant bleeping for profanity. Other than that, either show was just background noise within the break-room. |

I never got into it but the little I saw made me think it was most likely scripted or staged. At least to a certain point. It was too over the top not to be.
I really got into the show Baggage which was hosted by Jerry Springer but after while I figured that was also scripted once porn stars appeared and some “contestants” made ridiculous choices.

Never really liked it, though I watched a few episodes here and there on tv3 in the early 00s. I remember Jerry Springer being on The Simpsons and Sabrina, the teenage witch.

People have said it was staged. There was a story about that a while back where some guests have admitted it. Still, I wonder how it is that a guest was found dead after a taping.

Surprised you kept it off your radar, it was quite big back in the day. Used to even be shown in peak afternoon hours when us kids were at school.

Well not every show becomes available or easily available in every country. Especially not one that's from the 90s, a time where there was no youtube, netflix or anything of the sort. If it didn't air in your country or tv channels you had at your home, then there's no way you could know about it.

There was a lot of promotional media for the show at the time...VHS, a movie called "Ringmaster", there was even a parody opera based on the show.
