Should the turtles have vehicles?

Do you think the turtles should have vehicles. They're usually teenagers and still know how to operate a lot of vehicles, not just Donatello. Also, it may expose them to public, like when the police is doing speed controls. Despite that, most series have it.

Or do you think, if you want it, it should be limited (a lot of the sewer-based vehicles like party tube, sewer tube and motorized skateboards) were OK. Or maybe only use them at nighttime at minor streets, with less risk of being discovered?

If it's absolutely necessary, like needing to get somewhere fast or needing hide during transport, sure.

But that's not really the issue, now is it? No, where talking about tanks, planes, weaponised motorcycles, blimps and jet skis. That stuff is idiotic and only serves the purpose of marketing toys, from the persepctive of storytelling they're in violation of the internal logic.

In short, no. They should not regularly use vehicles. Especially not the kind Playmates insist on.

If they need to go longer distances, they can always hide in trucks, cargo aeroplanes, cargo ships and cargo railway cars. Another alternative is Donatello having portals, but having the turtles popping up anywhere on Earthy when they want at anytime removes some of the adventure-feeling.

For shorter distances, if April isn't a teenage-girl she should be able to fix that.

A topside van would be enough but would have to be inconspicuous. As iconic as the 80s Party Wagon was, its a prime example of sticking out like a sore thumb. Motorized skateboards would make too much noise and people are going to wonder what that sound is coming from a drainage ditch.

This. Just give them a seldom-needed beater van that looks like its used by trade workers.

It would be funny if the turtles ever had to carjack out of necessity during one of their missions, Grand Theft Auto style.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

If that were to happen in any universe, it'd be Mirage, where they're not necessarily meant to be "heroes" & have a certain degree of moral ambiguity.

That's a side of the series I'd like to see explored, personally.

Since the FW show, a Party Wagon have been a staple in most TMNT incarnations since in one way or the other, be it a suped up van, tank or garbage truck. It works for a toy line, but personally I'd prefer any vehicle to be as nondescript as possible. for transportation just a normal van should be sufficient or a motorcycle since they could disguise themselves in a race suit.

A turtlemobile gets silly real fast and don't fit a more serious "grounded" incarnation, and isn't very ninja

My TMNT would be in one of these:

Maybe throw an "I break for turtles" bumper sticker on the back, if you wanna be cute.

Having a van, and few motorcycles, and MAYBE a helicopter, all unmarked that Donnie refurbished, that they keep at the lair for easy transport? Yes.

labeled, turtle-themed vehicles, like blimps and sewer surfers? no

IDW is the best version of TMNT

If they make a TMNT reboot movie retelling the shredder battle/origin, I won't buy a ticket.

I'm going to agree with everyone else.

A van's going to be necessary, but...tone it down a little. A lot.

That would be OK, don't forget you can still have some hightech equipment inside.

I kind of lampshaded this issue in my AU by having both Casey and the OC comment about how much the "Party Wagon" sticks out. Casey admits that they should have toned down the paint job and that it looks like a hippy bus, while Orlene (Mikey's gf) wonders how they can even drive without a license.

Yes!

Now how they handle it depends on the universe, the OT can totally handle turtle themed vehicles. The other more "realistic" shows have made it far more subtle and it works.

Turtles in motorcycles are always cool, I'm surprised they haven't used this idea more.

I mean, you’ve gotta have things to sell alongside the action figures so yeah, of course.

Well Batman drives outrageous super cars in all versions and it works fine. Even in the more serious movies. So a turtle themed vehicle isn’t that silly if you think about it.

Like Batman, thier enemies and city know about them so they don’t need to hide thier presence 24/7. Go ahead and drive a huge van with graphics and a shell roof.

I think Batman can get away with it because his Batmobile is black, and a lot of the action takes place by night.

If you want to give the Turtles something to drive around in a Turtles van would be cool but if you want every Turtle to have their own individual vehicle you need to go all out and do exactly what neatoman says you shouldn't do. The vehicles should be colour coded as well.

They should stick to just the 3 main vehicles:

1 - Party Wagon/ Battle Shell
2 - Raphael's Stealth Bike
3 - Turtle Blimp
