He had quite the career before Bond. A staple of vintage British television, Ivanhoe, The Saint etc. Also very good at self-deprecation in his later life when Bond typecast him.

Great actor. A Bond actor often unfairly overlooked because of the camp of a lot of his later Bond films.
20 years ago I really, really wanted him to play Grand Admiral Thrawn. He'd have been perfect. I read those books picturing him and hearing his voice.

Sad News. I was recently rewatching all the Bond films. Just finished up Connery's run. Was going to start a Roger Moore marathon this weekend. RIP.

Damn.
Roger's Bond was suave, witty, and just a joy. Live and Let Die was actually my first Bond film due to my dad being a huge Moore guy. Even with how silly his films got, I still liked him. He's easily in my top three of the actors who played Bond. RIP Roger.

So sad. He was my favorite Bond both for his more debonaire take, and because he was in my favorite Bond film- Moonraker. Yes it was a bit campy, but I loved seeing Jaws do a 180 over the pretty scientist chick with the pugtails lol! Connery might be considered the "best" 007 overall, but Moore was it for me. RIP, Agent 007. You will be missed.

Every one says his Bond films were campy and your right, but you also have to look at the era they were film in. The 1970's had to be one of the cheesy eras there ever was. If we talk about Moore, Bond and Camp, I think you have to blame the era as well.

So sad to hear of Sir Roger Moore's passing. Makes me feel so old. I remember watching the Duran Duran "View to a Kill" Music Video playing on MTV back in the day.
IMHO Moore was the best James Bond and Jane Seymour the best bond girl. May he RIP. Time to pop in my Moonraker DVD.
