Next X-Men Movie Potentially Called "X-Men: Supernova"

If recent reports are to be believed, that will either be the official title or is the working title for the seventh main storyline X-Men film (eleventh overall).

The title has been circulating since around mid-December, but until this week was believed to be the working title for Josh Boone's X-Men: The New Mutants. However, that all changed when Production Weekly released their latest issue, for the week of January 12th, which featured not the usual one, but two separate X-Men listings: one for the aforementioned New Mutants spin-off and one for the mysterious X-Men: Supernova.

Yeah, "The New Mutants" will be called "The New Mutants"... if and when it happens. Most of these planned X-Men movies by Fox tend to just never materialize.

New Mutants has reached the animatic stage, that much we know, and McAvoy is tipped to appear as Xavier.

I wouldn't doubt it. Singer is far from above recycling his own garbage again. Plus he seems obsessed with "correcting" Ratner's X3. And I dunno, people made such a fuss about, "If Singer had done X3 instead of Superman Returns, it would have been INFINITELY better than Ratner's movie!"... but how do we know that? If anything, I'd imagine it'd be slower and significantly smaller.

I wonder if Magneto will become the villain again?

Didn't Singer say he wouldn't be directing this one? Now I'm worried they're bringing him back since there has been zero publicity on this so far. I want to say Singer said he had a movie lined up for later in the year and he's doing the X-Men pilot for Fox because he had an opening.

Even without Singer it'll probably still suck since Kinberg is writing it but hopefully they'll bring in someone without a black leather fetish.

Do I dare hope that Vaughn could be coming back to the X-Men? First Class rocked. But then again, there's a new Kingsman coming out. :/

Maybe after Kingsman 2, we can get another Vaughn X-Men movie...

He said something about "blah blah, Apocalypse wraps up a trilogy and I'm very happy about that," which kind of infers some hand washing of the franchise. But not necessarily.

Even without Singer it'll probably still suck since Kinberg is writing it but hopefully they'll bring in someone without a black leather fetish.

It'll be pretty ironic if their big "Phoenix Saga, Take 2" movie is rushed out with another B-list director like Ratner. X-Men 3 for Fox all over again. I bet they'll "win" back Singer. That's probably important to them.

Oh, I agree. And that was with being rushed to meet a seemingly impossible deadline. With some proper pre-production, Ratner could have done an even better job.

So Deadpool 2 brings in Drew Goddard to help with the script and X-Force is being written (and possibly directed) by Joe Carnahan. Why can't Fox hire people like that to work on the X-Men movies? They can't really think Kinberg is a comparable talent.
