I'm sorry that you had to go through that.

Hopefully, it'll get more bearable. Take care.

I mean, today was better, probably in part to the fact that I spent the last two days sleeping a lot.

Work's just going to be busy for the next couple of weeks, since everyone is doing spring break.

We're supposed to have 51 dogs tomorrow...one of them is a Newfoundland; absolute hugelarge boy. Total bear.

Sleep is a great place to hide from the world. I used to do it A LOT when my depression was at its worst.

That Newfie sounds awesome, though. I'm kind of jealous you get to play with dogs at work.

Just saw an article saying 'in 1994, hundreds in the US reported seeing UFO's: we still don't know why.
Isn't that the year the X-Files started?

May not be why but was the first thing that came to mind, just humouring myself.

Looks like it was 1993 actually, but yeaaah, that could still be related given that is within the first season. I guess people were more inclined to look up.

I've noticed this place has been a lot more chill recently. I took a bit of a hiatus in 2018, only logging on sporadically- because of bad the forums had gotten, and I expected to find the same sh*tshow during one of my visits earlier in February, but something's different. I don't know if it's the absence of certain members, but there's not as much in-fighting, politics, or general assholery as there used to be. It's also a lot slower, but personally- I think the quality of posts has gone up drastically.

Now, that could be attributed to the same 5 people posting in every thread, but at least we're discussing things with some depth, unlike before.

So thanks, guys. I think you've made the Drome comfy again.

Huh, that's a good point.

There HAVE been a lot less "I want to make people angry for petty reason" threads and posts!

Indeed. I'm not as inclined to get annoyed by the amount of trolling going on. Because there is less of it.

If I could have 60 seconds with the guys who write Rick & Morty, I'd take the time to tell them that "one character frantically repeating another character's name a hundred times doesn't count as 'jokes'."

It's like Sting (the wrestler) wrote it. I love Sting, but if you've ever seen any of his promos, they weren't great. He could be getting ready to fight Ric Flair, and he'd be all like, "RIC! I'm tellin' ya, Ric, this Sunday, Ric, at the Great American Bash, Ric, it's gonna be YOU AND ME, RIC! And we're gonna find out, Ric, we're gonna find out who the better man really IS, Ric!" And on and on for a while. He did it with everyone, every single time, for almost 30 years. Really annoying.

Literally every time I catch a second of Rick & Morty, it's the same exact thing, and it's not funny, it's annoying. I don't know. People can like it, I just don't get it.

I think it's part of the joke that he's so drunk he can't speak coherently (I tend to have that problem...), but it's not worth making a bunch of jokes about. Doesn't help that a good portion are the lines are improvisational.

The "searching for a new planet to live on" scenes, however...

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

Hm, have never watched that, but kind of reminds me of the medication commercial(s) that, while talking about risks and side effects, say the word "bleeding" WAY too many times. Always have to mute or change it after the first several before I gag... Repeated stuff is irritating, I agree. And a word like "bleeding" doesn't make it any better.

I can now be able to get all the Myst games on Steam, including the 5th, which I've never played in the decade+ of my experience with it.

But that means...having to deal with the chair on Revelation...

That...goddamn...chair.

With cigarette ads banned from tv in this country for so long, it seems really strange to see a vape brand ad allowed...

Between half the Marvel movies getting released that I'm not bothered about, a 99% confirmed rushed 'TMNT' movie in development, the last great Star Wars movie being from 1983, AND the possibility that Bumblebee won't be a 100% Transformers reboot.

The only movies I'm really hyped for this year are Endgame, Spider-man: Far from Home and the Tolkien biopic.

I hate Hollywood 90% of the time

Still got stuff from 2008 in one on the desktop that's loaded down with 579 MB worth of stuff. I really should just rename it to 'random.'
