All of the entries are stored in a MySQL database. I then shuffled the results in a random order (for anyone who knows SQL, the exact query was "SELECT * FROM contests ORDER BY RAND()"), and the person in the first row was selected as the winner of the prize that we were currently choosing for. No person was chosen twice, but that did happen, we would have chosen again.

How did I not know you'd have an SQL script for that? You are like the MacGyver of SQL.
Krang once wrote an SQL script that cured several diseases, however the FDA won't let him talk about it. True story. |

Cool. Can't wait to see who won.
I wish that I'd won one of them,but with 1700+ entrants, I'm PRETTY sure that I didn't. Oh, well.................

Another update: We have now heard back from all but two of the winners. Since the deadline for them to respond has expired, we have picked two replacements (using the same method as above) and have emailed them. Hopefully we will hear back from the new winners soon so that we can mail out the prizes.
