I think the boat has been missed on further DVD releases. Now it’s all about streaming. Heck, we don’t even have a DVD/blu ray player hooked up anymore, and have converted most of our DVDs to Movies Anywhere or Vudu streamable versions.

Why? Any movie I simply must own, I buy. When I want to see a movie, I know I can just pop in the disc without having to check which service has it or wether or not the service that once had it no longer has it.

I'm this way too. It makes me nervous to know that when I subscribe to a streaming service, I don't own any of that content. Companies can just decide one day to take whatever show or movie off the service for whatever reason. Sometimes it's an issue of deals expiring. Sometimes it's companies getting $$$'s in their eyes and wanting their own streaming service that no one will buy into. Sometimes it's the excellent Michael Jackson episode of The Simpsons going down because of the current Twitter outrage of the day (still unwatchable on streaming btw).

If it's content I don't care about or haven't watched yet, I don't mind. But the second I'm interested, I'm getting it in a physical format that corporate can't take away from me. In my view, relying only on streaming or any digital means that doesn't involve a local file saved on your hard drive is giving all that will to a faceless company that doesn't care about art and will take away the moment it becomes difficult for them to maintain.

That's why I collected this show's DVD releases last year. I'm not giving "Paramount+" a cent because the very notion of the service is stupid to me. But even if I did, the way Viacom treats this series I doubt they'll be fighting to keep it up if some unforeseeable BS happens. I do agree that proper 2003 DVD sets won't happen anytime soon for this reason. It sucks that a few of those discs have become so rare and expensive, and that S7 just never released over here. Then again, I can live with treating S5 as the end of the show. There's not a lot to miss beyond that.

I agree and I love the season sets that were released. What I meant is that there is probably much less of a market today for DVD sets than there was say 10-15 years ago, so it's unlikely we will see new full season releases. But I'd like to be wrong.

Movies Anywhere and Vudu are a bit different than services like Paramount or Netflix, in that you own the right to the movie, can watch it any time, start to end with full credits (without an "Up Next" popup). Sometimes they include the special features as well.
However, that's not to say that one day those services won't lose the rights. Like if a studio like Disney or New Line decided to cut ties with them.

Of course not. Nick and Viacom treat this series as the bastard stepchild of the franchise for some reason.
