Any reasons for that? Murph may have worn his environmentalism on his sleeves, but he wrote some really great stories.

Oh wow! The guys at IDW definitely did their homework, Brizuela is just perfect for the job. I didn't really enjoy him all that much in Mirage, but with the Nick Turtles he sure will shine.

I wonder how they're going to do this. Will the new stories fit in perfectly with the show? I mean they can't have Shredder fighting the Turtles with Dogpound and Fishface it it never happened in the series that way.

I think it's better to start off like the show...but follow its own route. Perhaps we'll see Bebop and Rocksteady that way? The bad thing about comics based on cartoon shows that have an actual storyline continuity is that it limits alot of stuff they can do that won't mess with what's seen on the show.
I remember some of the reasons the MOTU comic based on the 2002 series died out (besides the cartoon being cancelled) was because the writers wouldn't add new characters, and couldn't do any stories that would change or mess with what was shown in the cartoon.

I love the art. I remember the print going around at the cons and loved it.
Wouldn't surprise me if I end up enjoying this more than the main IDW series. Don't have to worry about the crappy origin in this one. |

I just don't want this to be a new continuity. Let's have it take place inbetween episodes of the show.

It's unavoidable. You really think two series separate from each other (one TV, one comics) will be able to effectively maintain a consistent continuity? It's hard enough with the IDW series in and of itself. Can you imagine either one being restricted because the writers from the other series wanted to do something different? Or edited out at the last minute? It's probably best you accept it and move on.

I guess a more precise way to put it is, it's unavoidable if you want them to do anything creative. Sure they can do inconsequential stories that will return everything to the status quo by the end of the issue/arc so as not to upset continuity from the show, but do we really want that? May as well not have a series, if you ask me. It'll just degrade into promotional comics for the show without telling any of its own stories. A writer actually trying to be creative isn't going to have much success the more restrictions on continuity they are given, especially ones they may not be aware of in time. Also, Bobby mentioned that the time table of a comic series and a TV show are completely different, naturally, and that this will be the case, anyhow. I understand you don't want to keep track of yet another continuity, but it is what it is. Might as well be happy we have it at all.
