The Fast and the Furious Animated Series Spin-Off coming from Netflix

Netflix is developing an animated spin-off series of The Fast and The Furious franchise.

The animated series won't follow the further adventures of Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew, though. Instead, the currently unnamed cartoon centers on Tony Toretto, Dom's teenage cousin, as he follows in the elder Toretto's footsteps--which seems like a terrible idea, given how close to death Dom and everyone he knows often it.

According to a series description from Netflix, Tony "and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination." That's some pretty heavy material for a teenager.

They're making a cartoon out of this? Seems odd to make a cartoon off an adult movie franchise even if the cartoon is aimed at adults. I guess we're in the 2010's now, cartoons aren't just for kids anymore.

It's nothing new.

They're all PG-13. So no.

An animated F&F series is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard of and I'll watch every single episode.

I don't like cars so this franchise never appealed to me but I've wanted to check it out after being told how much they went out of their way to fit the movies in continuity and more world building than the average movie does.

I avoided the franchise for years because it seemed like a "Dudebro" franchise that people with big muscles and tattoo's who go around acting like they're tough and pissed off every waking minute. You know this "I'm a muscle bound meat head and I'll beat you up if you even look at me the wrong way" type of people.

Then I actually sat down and watched all 8 movies in a row on 1.5x times speed and really enjoyed them. The weakest one is the third since it doesn't have any major characters at that time and felt like a spinoff but it returns to form with the 4th.

Funnily enough that's the only Fast and Furious film I've ever seen

I'll admit, I'm not huge fan of the franchise but the idea of F&F having an animated series sounds so far-fetched to me that I'm actually intrigued.
